What is the Opportunity?

Municipal Finance Analyst/Associates provide analytical, research and transactional support to investment bankers in all departmental work activities relating to the structuring and issuance of municipal bonds through negotiated or competitive sale or via private placement. Analyst/Associates are involved in every aspect of our business and play critical roles on banking teams serving a broad base of clients. The Analyst/Associate filling this position will participate in multifamily and single family tax exempt bond and other related financings and will be based in RBC Capital Markets' St. Petersburg, Florida office.

What will you do?

  • Perform research, analytics, and financial modeling required to complete transactions.
  • Compile documents, prepare financial projections and manage the process by which housing bonds are rated by rating agencies.
  • Review and comment on financing and offering documents for bond/loan transactions.
  • Prepare financing timelines, organizational and compliance check lists.
  • Prepare flow of funds memorandums and compile wire instructions for bond closings, coordinating with developer clients and housing professionals.
  • Attend conferences, housing finance authority and affordable multifamily developer meetings.
  • Take increasing role on client coverage teams managing working group organizational calls.
  • Prepare proposals and participate in presentations for prospective clients, detailing financing alternatives in originating, structuring and marketing an issue and our ability to perform the underwriting functions in a capable manner.
  • Develop an understanding of economic and political forces affecting the issuance of housing bonds and the bond market through internal and external resources.
  • Coordinate the various activities, internal and external, relating to pricing and settlement of single family and multifamily transactions and single family MBS trades.
  • Work closely with Transaction Review Group and Investment Bankers to secure closings.
  • Develop data and analytical processing skills as well as a proficient knowledge of available computer programs.
  • Other such duties, responsibilities and authority as may be reasonably required, consistent with the purposes for which you are being hired and your background, experience and prior business activity.
  • Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business.
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities.
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functionspromptly.

What do you need to succeed?

  • BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Finance, Real Estate or Economics with demonstrated record of high achievement.
  • 1 to 3 (Analyst) / 3 to 5 (Associate) years of related professional Municipal Finance and/or Multifamily Financing or Lending experience.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and standard productivity applications.
  • Obtain and maintain Securities Industry Essentials Exam (SIE), Series 52, 63 and 79 licenses
  • Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; strong knowledge of finance and accounting - able to analyze numbers proficiently.
  • Highly motivated, committed and responsible, with a demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and requests.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and function independently balanced with strong teaming skills.
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct.
