Position Purpose |
To manage year-round operations and programming activities at the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge, bunkhouses, and mountain property. This position is responsible for promoting a positive experience for guests though excellent meals, accommodations, instruction, customer service, outdoor programming, and advancing the educational objectives of Dartmouth Outdoor Programs and Dartmouth College; hiring and training staff; overseeing the budget and managing expenditures and revenue; promoting sales; coordinating with other Outdoor Programs and College staff to maintain the condition of the facilities; managing the ordering, upkeep and inventory of supplies and equipment; and implementing appropriate risk management practices. |

- Proficiency in program design and implementation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, administrators, alumni, and others.
- Must have 2-3 years of experience in outdoor programming, hospitality management, or a related field; or the equivalent experience.
- Teaching experience with a variety of age groups and skill levels.
- Experience with recruiting, training, and managing staff.
- Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent.
- ServSafe manager certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months of hire.
- Wilderness First Responder, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications |
- Technical expertise in outdoor programming, facility maintenance, cooking, and hospitality services preferred.
- Experience working in backcountry facility preferred.

Lodge Staff Management (20%)
- Recruits crew positions and conducts hiring process for the Lodge season.
- Trains, supervises, evaluates, and assigns work responsibilities and schedules for staff and student employees.
- Anticipates and addresses staffing needs and attends to the general welfare of the Lodge crew, providing a positive and educational work experience.
- Promotes positive relationships with trail and research crews.
- Leads and develops regular staff training and meetings.
- Trains staff in the planning and preparation of meals.

Lodge Guest Management, Communications, and Programming (20%)
- Serves as primary point of contact for any concerns, questions, and needs.
- Ensures that the Lodge provides a safe, healthy and positive experience for guests and visitors.
- Promotes year-round use of the Lodge and bunkhouses by Dartmouth constituents and the general public.
- Develops and promotes special programs to draw guests to the Lodge and to enhance the Lodge experience.
- Communicates Lodge policies to guests, especially large groups, to ensure clear expectations and smooth logistics.
- Manages effective operation of the reservation system.
- Ensures excellent meals and clean, comfortable accommodations.
- Schedules all internal DOC, Outdoor Programs, and partner events at the Lodge for the upcoming season, coordinates schedules for trail and research crews at the Lodge, and coordinates schedule for First-Year Trips at the Lodge.

Lodge Financial Management (15%)
- Coordinates with office manager to facilitate staff and student payroll processes.
- Submits timely tax reports, invoices, bills, and other financial documentation to Outdoor Programs.
- Records and distributes crew tips.
- Approves purchase of supplies and arrangements for repairs and services.
- Manages Lodge budget and expenses to enhanced revenues consistent with Lodge mission and office expectations.

Description |
Lodge Facilities and Safety Management (15%)
- Coordinates with Dartmouth staff, contractors, and delivery services to maintain the Lodge and receive supplies.
- Performs and assigns maintenance tasks as needed in order to maintain the physical grounds and buildings at the Lodge and Mt. Moosilauke more broadly.
- Ensures that the Lodge functions at a high level of safety for all guests.
- Coordinates seasonal Lodge opening and closing.
- Coordinates with NH Fish and Game, the Forest Service, and others to complete search and rescue missions for lost or missing hikers.
- Responds to medical emergencies.
- Implements Lodge, OPO, and Dartmouth policies while ensuring compliance with local, state, and other regulations.

Program Coordinator and Management (15%)
- Plans, advertises, and coordinates, as well as conducts, instructional and recreational programs based at the Moosilauke campus.
- Promotes winter use of Moosilauke campus; supports students and staff in running winter outdoor trips.
- Assists in coordinating other OPO winter outdoor programs for students and Dartmouth community.
- Plans and conducts other Outdoor Programs Office instructional and recreational programs.
- Manages off-season reservations, including individual and exclusive reservations, special events, and Reunions.
- Trains and maintains a list of individuals who are allowed to lead trips to the bunkhouses during the winter season.
