Summary:

Reports to Manager Pharmacy Supply Chain. Serves as the internal pharmacy revenue integrity liaison for identifying and implementing opportunities that support a patient-centered revenue cycle. Responsible for championing the development generation and presentation of information critical to the ongoing measurements and operation of the revenue cycle. Provides direction for best practice implementation using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and other improvement tools to identify strategies that result in documented qualitative and quantitative improvement in revenue cycle performance and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Manages coordinates and champions multiple pharmacy revenue integrity initiatives across the organization to improve processes and support the revenue cycle mission.

Develops long-range strategic plans for future processes and structure that supports patient-centered pharmacy revenue cycle integrity.

Demonstrates understanding of key revenue cycle areas that impact the patient experience including but not limited to insurance verification pre-registration financial counseling billing collections and customer service.

Researches monitors provides education and implements payer regulations and guidelines related to revenue management activities of the assigned clinical area.

Oversees and coordinates pharmacy revenue integrity specialist staff. Responsible for day-to-day operations of the team.

Develops project plan for all aspects of assigned projects. Establishes and leads cross functional project teams and status meetings. Monitors and manages project scope budget forecast resources and deliverables within the designated timeline. Obtains consensus and buy-in from key internal and external stakeholders for the project timeline.

Identifies opportunities for process improvement through review of performance metric reports and collaboration with other departmental leaders; articulates the business case for proposed changes. Develops prepares and utilizes metric reports to track financial and operational performance across the entire spectrum of the revenue cycle for assigned clinical area.

Designs implements and evaluates improvements aimed at increased efficiency which supports the assessment of current revenue cycle functions.

Ensures compliance to established policies and procedures.

Conducts pharmacy practice research clinical research and data-related research in alignment with Brown University Health*s mission vision and priorities.

Prepares papers for presentation at professional organization meetings submits manuscripts for publication in professional journals and authors articles for publication on the Pharmacy Web site.

Participates in development of a strategic vision for the department.

Participates in the education and training of pharmacy nursing physician assistants medical students and residents as needed.

Serves as a preceptor for pharmacy residents and advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) students completes required competency and evaluation documentation.

Recommends department-wide standardized policies and processes based on industry best practices incorporating change management principles and delivering high quality results.

Works with other revenue cycle leadership to develop performance measures for staff in various areas and institute ongoing professional development opportunities such as internal certification programs career ladders and cross-training opportunities.

Analyzes and identifies trends in revenue cycle operations; assesses the current capabilities of revenue cycle systems and creates innovative revenue cycle solutions. Identifies revenue cycle problems researches and analyses data to resolve issues. Identifies and selects alternatives to address outstanding issues and implements solutions for improvement.

Develops revenue cycle education training tools and coordinates revenue management educational activities.

Responsible for the recruitment retention performance enhancement and competency assessment of Pharmacy Revenue Integrity Specialists in collaboration with Manager Pharmacy Supply Chain. Provides actionable feedback to employees to promote effective teamwork and workplace satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS-EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy. Master*s degree (e.g. MBA MHA) and/or ASHP accredited PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership residency preferred.

Prior to start date possesses current unrestricted licensure as a licensed pharmacist or as a licensed 90-day temporary pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island. Obtains full licensure prior to expiration of 90-day temporary pharmacist license then possesses and maintains current unrestricted licensure as licensed pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island.

QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE:

Two years progressively more responsible administrative experience with pharmacy business functions particularly pharmacy revenue integrity preferably gained in a similarly diverse and operationally complex health care environment.

Extensive understanding of computer database and network technologies. Knowledge of computerized pharmacy information systems and personal computers including word processing database and spreadsheet design. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.

Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles. Experience developing efficient and effective solutions to complex business challenges.

Project management skills including facilitation prioritization and resource management.

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to influence key stakeholders at various organizational levels.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Extended periods of time spent standing walking or sitting.

Requires the visual and manual dexterity to operate a computer.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Direct supervision of up to 10 FTEs.
