Title Hazmat Driver Classification Non-Exempt (Overtime eligible) Reports To Transportation Manager Position Type Full-Time 1st Shift: Mon. - Fri. 6am - 3pm, overtime and Saturdays as required

SUMMARY The Hazmat Driver is responsible for driving company roll-off, luggers, open-tops, and van trailers to transport scrap material, including hazardous materials, to and from specified locations for processing. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Load/unload lugger boxes, roll-off boxes, dry vans and flatbeds as required
- Service customers as directed by dispatcher/manager and work schedule
- Safely transport hazardous materials (hazmat) from one location to another, adhering to strict regulations and safety procedures
- Load and unload hazardous materials as needed, inspecting the vehicle and cargo
- Maintain safe and professional driving on the roads and at customer locations
- Verify all loads are safe for the road
- Weigh in and out on the scales; complete and process all paperwork pertaining to the load
- Inspect vehicle and notify maintenance of any concerns
- Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, tarping systems, or covers, and protect materials as needed
- Follow all company safety policies/procedures and federal/state regulations with regard to vehicles, to include, reporting all accidents/incidents
- Identify different types of scrap metals and materials
- Clean and perform basic up-keep/maintenance on assigned vehicles
- Must have effective communication skills in order to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Keep all required logs and records current and accurate to comply with company policies/procedures and federal/state regulations and laws
- Comply with all applicable ISO procedures
- Must have and maintain valid hazmat certification
- Must be able to interact in person with coworkers and the public.
- Must be able to handle high stress situations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- CDL A license with an acceptable driving record and a valid medical card
- Hazmat certification, or ability to be certified before hire date
- 1-3 years of verifiable related driving experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Remain in a seated position for 65% of the scheduled shift.
- Frequently operates controls to position, load, and unload the truck.
- Frequently lifts and moves materials and tools weighing up to 50lbs to load/unload and tarp the truck, and perform basic maintenance.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Follow safety procedures for safe vehicle operation.
- Quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Routinely performs repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching and lifting.
