Position Summary

The Critical Reagent Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing the inventory of critical reagents used in the quality control laboratories, including overseeing international shipping. This role ensures that all reagents are available, properly stored, and maintained to support the testing and release of biological and pharmaceutical products. The specialist will work closely with the quality control team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.

Hours: 1st shift

Position Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records of all critical reagents, including tracking usage, expiration dates, and storage conditions.
  • International Shipping: Coordinate the international shipping of critical reagents, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Procurement: Coordinate the procurement of critical reagents, including sourcing, ordering, and receiving materials.
  • Storage and Handling: Ensure proper storage and handling of reagents to maintain their integrity and quality.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of reagent inventory, including lot numbers, certificates of analysis, and usage logs.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform regular quality checks on reagents to ensure they meet required specifications and standards.
  • Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal quality control procedures.
  • Regulatory Communications: Author and submit reagent replacement/regeneration protocols, data, and reports to be reviewed by regulatory agencies for approval.
  • Implementation: Manage the implementation of newly approved reagents using Change Control system to manage updates to regulatory filings, internal documents, and quality systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the quality control team to forecast reagent needs and address any inventory-related issues and present the state of critical reagents to senior management.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in quality control or inventory management.

Technical Skills and Competencies Required

  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of laboratory practices and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with international shipping regulations and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with biological reagents and quality control processes.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for laboratory reagents.
  • Certification in inventory management or related field.
  • Experience with international logistics and shipping.

Physical Position Requirements

Working Conditions:
  • Laboratory environment with exposure to biological and chemical materials.
  • Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet project deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move reagent containers.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and working at a laboratory bench.
