About the Role

The Maintenance Planner-Scheduler/Supervisor manages or supervises a group of multi-craft, skilled maintenance technicians and a team of production technicians. Maintains and repairs production equipment in the assigned area. Plans and schedules maintenance work related to corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, work order requests, equipment installation, and project-related work. Facilitates work group activities with maintenance and production to meet established quality standards and the objectives of Safety, Cost, and Delivery. Interfaces with managers to coordinate daily and weekly activities and set priorities. Given the strategic and supervisory aspects of this role, the position now encompasses significant leadership responsibilities that go beyond scheduling, warranting a salaried classification to reflect the complexity and impact of the work on the overall success of the team.

What You Will Do
  • Maintains a maintenance log of preventative and corrective maintenance work orders. Assigns jobs and schedules work as required to maintain a high level of completion of preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Supervises day-to-day activities for maintenance and production technicians, including but not limited to scheduled work time, time and attendance, disciplinary actions, evaluations of skill sets, and training plan development.
  • Achieves Production and Maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Manages the CMMS system and work order backlog.
  • Reports all KPIs related to maintenance, planning-scheduling, and production.
  • Orders materials required to accomplish repairs to machinery and manages spare parts utilization to optimize operational efficiency. Plays a key role in managing the $22M spare parts budget with a direct impact on SC-1 production output.
  • Reviews monthly non-production stores purchases, tags equipment repair items, and tracks scrap costs.
  • Returns unused items to non-production stores.
  • Addresses long- and short-term quality concerns and provides feedback to production, engineering, and quality control.
  • Ensures technicians operate in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all safety guidelines and rules. Proactively identifies and addresses safety concerns before incidents occur.
  • Tracks and plans corrective action on equipment downtime issues, determining methods to meet and improve equipment up-time goals.
  • Generates weekly KPI reports when needed and prepares one-point lessons (OPLs) and Standard Operating Sheets (SOS).
  • Schedules technicians for technical and powered equipment training. Provides training on ISO9001 international manufacturing quality standards and ISO14001 environmental standards. Maintains all related training documentation.
  • Helps in planning and installing new equipment, working with engineering and outside vendors. Manages parts associated with new equipment and implements engineering changes to enhance performance, reliability, and predictability of processes.
  • Tracks and maintains employee records related to attendance, performance, overtime, safety, and mobile equipment licensing. Keeps technicians updated on all applicable policies.
  • Serves as the primary point of accountability for communication between Operations and Maintenance to coordinate downtime planning.
  • Supports quality investigations when needed.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards.
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards.
  • Supervises and provides leadership, coaching, guidance, training, and staff development; interviews and selects unit employees; plans and evaluates employee performance; recommends merit increases, transfers, and promotions; counsels and disciplines employees as necessary; recommends termination when appropriate; monitors time and attendance of subordinates and approves timesheets.
  • Provides strategic oversight of resource allocation, ensuring optimal manpower and scheduling of downtime work in collaboration with Operations.
  • As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.
  • Performs all other related assignments (including special projects) as required in a professional and cooperative manner.

Qualifications
What You Need
  • One or two years of post-high school education ideal. Consideration will be given for equivalent related college or technical courses, seminars and in-house classroom training.
  • Three (3) years of related experience at a professional level required.
  • Two to five years in a work leader role coordinating the work of other employees and contractors ideal. This includes training new employees, assigning work, and checking the timeliness and quality of work. May have provided input into performance reviews. The majority of time in work leader role would have been spent performing work similar to that performed by the people whose activities the position coordinates.
  • The preferred candidate possesses the experience and knowledge required to support continuous improvement activities within a maintenance & production department. The activities will lead to a highly effective, efficient maintenance & production team.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
What is "Nice to Have"?
  • Background in supporting a highly technical automotive-related manufacturing environment is highly desired but not required.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic.
