Claims Assistant

This position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office five days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

The Claims Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and insurance claims assistance to the claims manager and the claims
department in addition to the processing of product liability claims and adjustment of McLane customer property damage claims. This position will also handle any special projects as assigned by the claims manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned. A teammate in this position must have the ability to:

• Coordinate a variety of administrative and other organization efforts including scheduling of travel, meetings, sessions and other events.
• Open, date stamp, and distribute mail for CSI and prepare mail packages for overnight mail.
• Assist in maintaining the department duties, production, inventory and communications as assigned.
• Provide quality and timely service to all incoming calls and inquiries.
• Provide timely and quality service to the divisions.
• Electronically attaching claim documents to files.
• Transcribe recorded statements.
• Complete period end reports and various claim reports
• Process product claims and tender to vendors
• Assist and handle small claims and McLane customer property damage claims.
• Assist with the Oracle interface and check request
• Enter claims data in ISO on all claims
• Provide reporting to Crow Paradis regarding MMSEA requirements
• Assist with workers compensation claims set up, coding, and letters
• Order supplies as needed
• Purging claim files

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Have a High School Diploma or equivalent; with some college courses preferred.
• Have some insurance claims knowledge and/or office management experience.
• Have PC experience and use of business application software, MS Word, MS Excel, and Powerpoint. MS Office experience strongly preferred.
• Be able to type 55 plus WPM.
• Have strong problem-solving skills and work in a diverse and fast paced environment.
• Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Be able to work under minimal supervision and balance administrative support workload among multiple individuals/teams.
• Be able to identify and work through problems and conflicting issues in a clear and diplomatic manner.
