Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Manager of Plant Operations, the Electrician position at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in the facility. Key duties include reading blueprints and technical diagrams, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and building codes. Electricians may also install wiring, outlets, and lighting fixtures, conduct routine inspections, and work with various tools and equipment. Oversees electrical functions including applying problem-solving skills, paying attention to detail, working independently and provides team supervision and oversight of electrical activities. Leads team in providing excellent service throughout all levels of the organization. Responsible for maintaining current certification or licensure required. As driving may be required for the position, a valid driver's license is also required. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities:

  • Will assist other Engineering Dept. divisions when requested by another Supervisor or Manager or Director
  • Offers an "extra pair of hands" when needed.
  • Makes necessary repairs pertaining to electrical devices and maintenance equipment.
  • Utilizes age specific skills when dealing with those who report to him/her including staff or patients.
  • Monitors tools and materials, recognizes age-specific responsibilities.
  • Trains those assisting with electrical duties regarding all job specific requirements.
  • Ensures all tools, equipment, and products/parts being purchased within scope of responsibility are made of quality material and are purchased at the best cost possible.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years as a commercial industrial Journeyman.1-3 years in the general Maintenance/Engineering field preferred. 2 years of supervisory experience in the electrical trade required.

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Journeyman certification.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code, trade safety and building codes as well as other regulatory agencies such as AHCA and The Joint Commission as pertaining to the electrical trade. Excellent problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose lighting, TV, Nurse Call, general wiring faults (high and low voltage), motor diagnosis, electronic drive experience, motor control experience and other non-clinical electrical / electronic devices throughout the hospital.
  • Experience with surgery electrical systems and able to perform critical testing and repairs as required.
  • Experience operating and diagnosing high voltage transfer switches.
  • Experience testing generators up to at least 2 meg. Competent working with both single and three phase electrical circuits and connected components.
  • Experience working with and operating complex fire alarm systems such as Siemens.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings. Experience using protective gear working on open high voltage panels and adhering to all OSHA requirements. Able to bend and install EMT pipe / fittings up to 1".
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in various environmental conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills and customer service skills required. Ability to lift heavy materials. Strong physical stamina for the demands of the position.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, time management skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
