At UnitedHealthcare, we're simplifying the health care experience, creating healthier communities and removing barriers to quality care. The work you do here impacts the lives of millions of people for the better. Come build the health care system of tomorrow, making it more responsive, affordable and equitable. Ready to make a difference? Join us to start Caring. Connecting. Growing together. As a Clinical Pharmacist Resident, you will conduct research and maintain or enhance clinical pharmacy programs such as drug utilization review, prior authorization, health outcomes, disease state management, care management, and other specialty programs. This is your opportunity to join a pharmacy team with a focus on clinical and business collaboration. You will find an incredible team culture that provides opportunities to learn and evolve every day. Our program is a unique and challenging experience where you will develop a deeper understanding of the national pharmaceutical and healthcare arena while contributing to the development of UHCP's Prescription Drug List (PDL) and clinical programs through pharmacy analytics and strategic planning. The UHCP residency is a unique opportunity because it's not like other residencies. At UHCP you work with all areas of pharmacy management by seeing a project through from beginning to end. Residents are given the opportunity to develop a strategy, work with the analytics team to determine the value of the strategy, develop the presentation to senior leadership for decision making and then work with the operations and communication departments to successfully implement and communicate the strategy. Pharmacy Residents at UHCP are expected to complete a variety of challenging clinical, research, business and leadership projects. Primary Responsibilities: Projects include:
Residency Focus: Our residency focuses on business analytics and leadership. Residents spend a large amount of time interacting with business analysts and leadership to understand how we use data (both internal data and published literature) to evaluate clinical program and/ or tier placement strategies of pharmaceutical products. Additionally, our resident learns how we use data to track the performance of various strategic initiatives. Clinical knowledge is critical in the residency, but is used to develop strategies, review evidence and develop presentations to thought leaders rather than to provide individual patient care. Unlike many traditional residencies, we do not have the resident rotate through various departments every 4-5 weeks. The resident stays within our group for the entire year but because our group interacts with every other department in the organization, they learn about all aspects of pharmacy management in this manner. The resident is highly involved in the evaluation and development of strategic initiatives within our group and then works with other departments within the organization as the strategy is further developed and then implemented. This allows the resident to be part of a project from start to finish rather than bouncing from project to project. You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
