Daikin Applied is seeking a SolidWorks Support Specialist who understands layout and basic mechanisms requiring the application of various standardized drawing techniques. This role also requires an understanding of complex assembly and detail selection drawings showing interrelated dimensions and positions requiring various calculations such as sheet metal and tubing bend allowances. Location: Plymouth, MN - Onsite

What you will do:



  • Provide support for engineering documentation, including SolidWorks CAD modeling, SolidWorks PDM, engineering change orders (ECOs), and engineering change requests (ECRs) that conform to Daikin Applied standards
  • Provide support and resolve issues to the end user's satisfaction. Respond quickly and effectively to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, and electronically
  • Create and monitor support tickets and process them based on assigned priority (SolidWorks PDM, SolidWorks CAD, or any other software supported by Daikin)
  • Escalate software issues to the System Administrators and/or Manager
  • Install, test, and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment, and software
  • Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades as required
  • Assist with the onboarding and leaving of users
  • Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness
  • Complete work assignments within a determined time frame
  • Exhibit a basic sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills
  • Work independently with guidance from a senior support specialist

Minimum Qualifications:



  • 2-year Vocational or Technical Degree or Associate's degree in CAD
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD and SolidWorks PDM applications
  • Understanding of ECOs and ECRs processing workflow
  • Capacity to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Dealing with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Knowledge of design, development, spreadsheet and word-processing software
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing practices and processes
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in sheet metal design and/or HVAC products

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $25.72-48.37 in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
