Job Summary

The paid internship provides the opportunity to work with development scientists to create a database to support the evaluation and selection of new product candidates. Successful candidates will build an understanding of the drug development objectives, scientific data repositories, data mining, and candidate selection criteria.

Primary Responsibilities



  • Building a process/database that extracts and organizes published data on FDA-approved products, patent information, and other scientific attributes of development targets.
  • Integration of database with existing scientific, technical, and regulatory assessment process and project scoring tools.


Education and Experience Requirements

Undergraduate or graduate-level coursework in chemistry, biology, physical sciences and/or computer science

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (calculations, pivot tables, and database tools).
  • Experience with PowerBI skills preferred
  • A practical and proactive problem-solver
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable to a dynamic environment and the ability to work independently.
  • Able to collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Goal-oriented, project-oriented, and achievement-oriented.


Additional Information

The position is an onsite position. Must have the ability to work on-site (Research Triangle Park, NC) up to 4 days per week (Mon-Thur). Relocation is not offered for this position.
