WBS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Analyst - Capital Markets and Invested Funds in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location.

The Capital Market and Invested Funds Analyst is part of a job family (Lead Analyst, Principal Analyst). The selected candidate's experience will be the determining factor in level offered.

Job Summary

This position is accountable for supporting the Treasury Group at WEC Energy Group and subsidiaries, including We Energies, Wisconsin Public Service and various other companies within WEC Energy Group.

Job Responsibilities
  • Financing - provide work direction along with supporting the long-term debt and equity financing process by preparing offering documents, pro forma financial statements and responding to investor diligence.
  • Compliance - oversee and perform compliance related work activities to ensure compliance with long-term debt portfolio and equity issuances for WEC and subsidiaries and respond to investor inquiries. Includes coordinating and executing various required financing agreements and documents, bank conference calls, due diligence meetings, and preparation of board resolutions, PSCW applications, and SEC filings.
  • Reporting - prepare debt-related reporting for SEC filings, regulatory and internal management.
  • Accounting - ensure appropriate accounting related to WEC debt portfolio along with equity issuances and oversee our daily cash reconciliation activity between the bank and accounting system including serving as a backup to the analyst that performs the daily activity.
  • Credit Evaluations - examine the financial statements and ratings of about 100 counterparties we engage in transactions with in the natural gas market and energy market.
  • Monitor Collateral - track the details of guarantees and letters of credit from counterparties for terms and expiration dates to keep them up to date.
  • Invested Funds
    • Support the board appointed Investment Trust Policy Committee (ITPC) and external Investment Consultant with fiduciary responsibilities as it relates to oversight and management of Company trust assets (dedicated funds) which include: Pension Trusts, VEBAS Trusts, 401(h) Plans, 401(k) Plans and the Rabbi Trust.
    • Organizing and scheduling quarterly meetings which involves preparing agendas, drafting meeting minutes and preparing presentation material for the annual Finance Committee and Board review of our trust performance
    • Working closely with the Investment Consultant to execute trust transactions such as asset rebalancing, cash raises, investment purchases and sales, payment of investment manager and service provider fees, investment policy statement updates and required reporting;
    • Interacting and maintaining relationships with key service providers such as the Trustee and Custodian, Actuary, internal and external auditors and at times investment managers;
    • Providing direction to service providers as it relates to trust or plan transactions, trust agreement or contract changes, reporting requirements and deliverables;
    • Assisting with required regulatory filings and compliance - Interact and coordinate with various internal departments such as HR, Tax, Benefits and Corporate Accounting and Auditing in the preparation of required regulatory reports and filings. Support the annual plan audits.
  • Other
    • Respond to data requests from internal and external stakeholders (investors, regulators, auditors, etc.)
    • Prepare monthly cash account reconciliations
    • Work with customer service to reconcile customer payments to the customer service system
  • Incumbents will conduct increasingly complex assignments depending on level.
  • The principal level will provide work direction to teammates and assist in the prioritization of their work load, provide training to departmental staff and clients, and will proactively take the lead role in improving processes, technologies and business solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 5-7+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong analysis, decision making and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks under time constraints
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively internally or virtually with others
  • Proficient in standard office software (MS Excel, Visio, Word)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities among several stakeholders
  • Experience using SAP
  • Experience using Bloomberg
  • CTP, CFA or CPA
  • Experience with issuing public and private debt along with public equity issuances via block or at the market program

End Date: 04/01/2025

Pay Range Minimum: $88,472.54

Pay Range Maximum: $152,615.06

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
