Job Summary Entry level position, Sentara Communication Assistants play a critical role within the organization facilitating all emergent and non-emergent communication both externally and internally.Our Centralized Hospital Communications Center is responsible for all Sentara Hospitals and free-standing emergency departments. (Currently 12 hospitals and 4 FSEDs). External call facilitation will generally include, but is not limited to, looking up patient information for friends and family members of patients and transferring customers to appropriate departments throughout the organization. Internal call facilitation will generally include utilizing complex on-call schedules with escalations and facilitating nurse to physician and physician to physician communication to include emergent consultations. Will assist with training new employees at your level and additional duties as assigned. Previous healthcare and multi-line phone experience preferred. Understanding of medical terminology preferred.
