Job Title: Machinist IIJob Description: Summary: Perform tasks directly related to the machining of graphite, silicon carbides, and other specialty materials. Primary Responsibilities and Duties: * Work is job oriented, following detailed blueprints, customer specifications, and internal work instructions; * Operate hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and computers, (desktop and machine control varieties) * Operate powered machine tools such as vertical CNC mills, manual and CNC lathes, surface and centerless grinders, cup grinders, bandsaws, and other machining equipment; * Perform machine setups and/or operate equipment that is setup by more skilled operators; * Complete machining tasks within a customer job; * Routinely perform initial setup on new parts;. * Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues. * Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manufacturing guidelines to consistently produce high-quality products. * Edit program feeds/speeds/taper adjustments to accommodate tolerances. * May be tasked with preventative maintenance and housekeeping duties. Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Physical Requirements): * High School Diploma or equivalent; * Possess math and precision measurement skills and able to read machine drawings; * Possess advanced knowledge of machining methods; * Able to interpret inspection reports to make offset adjustments on CNC; * Astute attention to detail to drive Safety and Quality; * Ability to perform visual checks and handle materials responsibly while wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); * Work any shift as required to meet business needs; * Experience in working in an ISO 9000/14000 environment a plus; * Candidate must have the capacity to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control laws. Physical Requirements * Completion of pre-employment physical required * Physical requirements of the job include: o Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. as needed. o Capability to ascend and descend ladders using a three-point grip. o Frequent tasks will include squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching, and standing. o Occasional work may be required in confined workspaces. o Ability to perform hand squeezes requiring force up to 30 lbs. o Performing repetitive tasks or motions for extended periods. o Maintaining balance and coordination, especially when working on elevated platforms or in areas with uneven surfaces. o Capability to perform physically demanding tasks over extended periods, often in varying environmental conditions (e.g., hot, cold, or humid environments). o Adequate visual acuity to perform detailed inspections or precision work. |
