V2X is growing! V2X is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team!

V2X is seeking an Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E) integration subject matter expert (SME) to join our Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN supporting the development and integration of advanced software/firmware/hardware systems including store control electronics, mission computers, avionics, sensors, certification and mission equipment for airborne and ground platforms.

The AA&E integration SME provides technical expertise throughout the development life cycle, from concept development, requirements definition, functional analysis, design review support, system implementation, integration, verification, and validation. The AA&E integration SME will be a key technical advisor engaged within a cross-functional Integrated Product Team (IPT) and customer interface, where effective communication and team building skills are critical to success. In addition, the AA&E integration SME provides deep domain expertise to ensure program success and work with government customers on future needs.

Required Skills:



  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain an Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • In-depth understanding of the System Engineering Lifecycle and processes.
  • Experience leading all systems engineering tasks and cross-product activities specifically for AA&E and Airborne Store related systems
  • Experience developing technical baselines (requirements/architecture); leading development teams; and developing and reviewing Engineering Change Requests.
  • Experience leading requirements development, hardware and software integration, and requirements verification.
  • Experience leading the development, integration, and test of military avionics systems or similarly complex systems.
  • Experience leading Trade Studies, performing Risk and Opportunity analyses, and tracking and mitigating risks.
  • Experience with the design, development, and integration of UAI Type I and Type II Carriage Systems.
  • Experience with the design, development, and integration of gravity release and pneumatic ejection systems.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Universal Armament Interface (UAI) including MIL-STD-1553 EBR, MIL-STD-1760, and JMMI.
  • Knowledge and experience of MIL-STD-8591 and MIL-STD-2088 to include requirement derivation and practical application of these requirements
  • Experience and desire to mentor early career engineers to build their domain area knowledge.


Desired Skills:



  • Experience managing suppliers and overseeing the development of subsystems and components.
  • Experience working the front end of the business, creating/reviewing RFPs, SOWs, BOEs, technical volumes, proposals, cost, and schedule estimates.
  • Experience working with government customers including the US Army, US Navy, USMC and/or USAF.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate to internal and external stakeholders including leading both internal and customer design reviews.
  • Current Active DoD Secret or higher Clearance


Education Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related STEM discipline plus:
  • At least fifteen (15) years of related engineering experience in systems, software, or hardware engineering
