Position Overview

This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of web design, development, and maintenance at the Institute on Community Integration (ICI). The position ensures the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and user-friendly digital resources that align with university standards and industry best practices. With a focus on agile project management, the role involves prioritizing and coordinating tasks across teams, integrating new technologies, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Additionally, this position serves as a key technical advisor, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards, security protocols, and organizational policies. A strong emphasis is placed on continuous improvement, professional development, and innovation in digital solutions to support ICI's mission.

Job Responsibilities

Web Design and Development (30%)

  • Build, update, and maintain websites using platforms like Drupal, WordPress, or ICI applications, ensuring functionality across multiple platforms and browsers.
  • Collaborate with ICI staff to gather user requirements, test solutions, and manage the lifecycle from development to launch.
  • Write and edit code (e.g., JavaScript, PHP, HTML, and CSS) to customize features and ensure compatibility across devices and browsers.
  • Test and validate websites for usability, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA compliance), and adherence to University guidelines.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary updates for existing websites.

Web Administration and Operations (15%)

  • Manage and oversee vendor-provided and University-supported web tools, including Drupal, WordPress, and legacy systems, and coordinate migrations to new platforms.
  • Evaluate third-party tools for security, accessibility, and functionality, submitting risk assessments and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Monitor access management policies and conduct gap analyses to ensure system efficiency and security.

Agile Process Management (30%)

  • Serve as Scrum Master, organizing and leading sprints, managing project backlogs, and ensuring project timelines align with organizational priorities.
  • Coordinate with team members to set priorities, resolve challenges, and provide regular updates to the IT Director on project progress and resource needs.
  • Foster collaboration within the team to streamline workflows, improve long-term efficiencies, and integrate tools like Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Facilitate peer reviews, test new software programs, and evaluate existing digital resources for accessibility and compliance, recommending solutions for non-compliant assets.
  • Develop and maintain a centralized digital space to document processes and communicate project updates.

Business Systems Analysis (15%)

  • Gather and document project requirements that align with security policies, accessibility standards, and organizational goals.
  • Lead testing and validation efforts for new and existing web systems, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards, code requirements, and University guidelines.
  • Oversee GitHub repositories for product development, revisions, and archiving.
  • Maintain a knowledge base for ICI staff and end-users, and act as a liaison with the University's Office of Digital Accessibility.
  • Provide technical expertise to resolve complex system design or integration issues.

Instructional Design (5%)

  • Administer and maintain learning management systems used by ICI.
  • Onboard and train internal administrators while serving as a subject matter expert for these systems.

Administration (5%)

  • Engage in professional development activities, such as attending trainings, participating in committees, and staying current with industry trends.
  • Ensure adherence to University policies and guidelines while representing ICI in web and technology-related forums.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of related work experience or master's degree plus 2 years of experience or a comparable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advocating for an inclusive environment for all backgrounds and identities.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and administering websites within a content management system
  • Knowledge and applied experience interpreting and applying Title II DOJ ruling in a university environment
  • Experience working within an agile environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience administering and managing learning management systems, including onboarding internal admins.
  • Experience using dominKnow to build and export learning content
  • Experience analyzing VPATs for accessibility conformance
  • Certified Scrum Master Certificate

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: The salary range for this position is $98,000 - $103,000. Final salary offers are dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity within the department.
