Job Overview

This position will be setting up, adjusting and operating the plasma cutter to cut raw materials such as steel plates, structural, extrusions, etc. as assigned.

A Day In The Life

  • Cuts, trims, or scarfs metal objects with arc-cutting equipment to dimensions, contour, or bevel specified by blueprints, work order, or layout.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates cutting equipment.
  • Scribes from patterns and performs simple layout.
  • Selects raw materials to be cut.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Operate an overhead crane or ability to learn.
  • Other duties as assigned in area.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • At least 1-year experience operating a plasma cutter / burn table - Preferred.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35pounds.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and caliper.
  • Operator should have some AutoCAD experience or ability to learn and fill comfortable with computer as the Plasma table operating system is a fully operational PC.
