Job Summary
The Market President is responsible for lending operations in a designated geographic area, which may include multiple branches and cities. This position develops new customer relationships and maintains a strong presence in the local community. The Market President also manages their own loan portfolio in compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Supervise city presidents, loan officers, and lending staff within the designated market.
- Ensure a competent and motivated staff by overseeing hiring, training, performance management, coaching, and evaluations.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of loan policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance.
- Review and recommend procedural changes to enhance the quality of the bank's customer service.
- Achieve and maintain the required loan portfolio balance and yield, as directed by senior management, while adhering to loan policies and procedures.
- Develop new business, maintain a professional network, and establish a strong presence in the local market by participating in civic organizations and community activities.
- Collaborate with team members to cross-sell bank products and services.
- Travel within the market as needed.
- Monitor budgets and strategic plans and prepare materials for monthly Board meetings.
- Support Southern Bancorp's mission-related activities in the market area.
- Complete all required training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seven (7) or more years of experience in lending and/or business development, with at least five (5) years of management experience.
- Must have or obtain NMLS clearance.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience in successful loan portfolio management or related credit/finance disciplines.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
- Strong ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to maintain required certifications, licenses, and registrations.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on sales, business development, and account relationship management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of bank products, policies, and procedures.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
- Ability to travel throughout the market for meetings and appointments.
- Occasional day and/or overnight travel may be required.
