Job Description

The Podcast Production Assistant helps manage the production of the NeLI Podcast (https://ediscoveryleadership.org/index.php/nelipod). In this monthly interview program, NeLI board members interview judges, practitioners, and vendors on general topics related to electronic discovery and legal technology.

The National eDiscovery Leadership Institute (NeLI) was formed in 2014 at UMKC Law to provide high-quality educational opportunities to judges and legal professionals specifically focused on electronically stored information (ESI) and encourage cooperation between the bench and the bar.

In addition to supporting NeLI Pod, the assistant will also contribute to other creative projects at the law school, including but not limited to multimedia content creation, video production, graphic design, and digital storytelling initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the NeLI board members
  • Assist in coordinating and producing podcasts
  • Reach out to and coordinate with potential guests
  • Develop and maintain a regular recording schedule
  • Conduct preliminary research on upcoming guests
  • Prepare recording studio when recording live in person in the UMKC Law Library
  • Monitor recording for quality and smooth operation
  • Editing and post-production
  • Manage our social media platform
  • Schedule and publish content regularly to maintain an active online presence
  • Engage with the audience, respond to comments, and monitor social media metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
Shift

This position is part time with a flexible work schedule subject to studio recording needs.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to work between 15 to 20 hours per month
  • Have experience or interest in storytelling, production, entertainment, journalism, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Experience or ability to learn multimedia production (both audio and video)
  • Experience or ability to learn social media platforms and content scheduling tools
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary range starts at $15.00 per hour commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
