THE JOB: Join the dynamic world of Blue Man Group as a Lead Wardrobe Technician, where you'll play a vital role in bringing the show to life! This fast-paced position involves maintaining and repairing costumes, executing quick changes, and ensuring all wardrobe elements meet the highest performance standards. You'll handle sewing, alterations, stage makeup, and costume maintenance, all while working closely with performers and crew. Be prepared to think on your feet, memorize cues, and work independently in a high-pressure environment. If you thrive in a creative, hands-on setting and love the energy of live entertainment, this is the role for you! THE STARTING RATE: $44.30 an hour THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Maintain and Repair Costumes: Perform daily inspections, repairs, and alterations on costumes, accessories, and footwear to ensure they remain in top condition, preserving the integrity of the original design. Wardrobe & Makeup Operations: Assist with all aspects of wardrobe maintenance, including sewing, fitting, alterations, painting, dyeing, wig styling, and basic stage makeup application. Laundry and Garment Care: Manage costume cleaning, including laundering, steaming, pressing, and proper storage. Must be able to work in hot, humid environments such as the laundry room while ensuring efficiency and attention to detail. Inventory & Supply Management: Assist with tracking, ordering, and restocking wardrobe department expendables, such as fabric, thread, makeup, and specialty costume materials. Performance & Rehearsal Support: Memorize and execute wardrobe-related cues during performances and rehearsals, often working independently in a fast-paced environment to facilitate quick changes and troubleshoot wardrobe issues. Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment by following established safety protocols, participating in required safety and rescue training, and ensuring all equipment is used properly, even under high-pressure conditions.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Age: Must be at least 18 years old. Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. Certification: Must possess or obtain an OSHA 10 certification within the first 90 days of employment. Availability: Flexible schedule required, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on production needs. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of theatrical wardrobe experience in a large-scale production. Technical Skills: Proficient in wardrobe equipment and machinery, including sewing tools, garment repair, laundry care, and costume storage.
