Overview

SUMMARY:

The candidate must possess a strong programmatic background, analytic skills and be fluent in MS Excel (including pivot tables), and Power BI with a knowledge of engineering business operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with budget management with all aspects of forecasting, tracking, and reporting on headcount and consulting. Work cross functionally with Engineering, Program Mgmt, Finance, and HR to help drive planning and execution of operating expenses which will involve extensive data maintenance, validation, and analysis. Drive improvements to new and established processes and reporting to increase efficiencies and facilitate decision making. Previous employment in a company providing engineering support is preferred. This person must have excellent communication skills and be able to work well within a matrix organization to drive operational excellence and improvement in business performance.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

* Establish collaborative relationships with Engineering, Program Mgmt, and Finance
* Support forecasting, tracking, and reporting of resources (Regular, Temporary, Intern, Consultants), including target headcount management for functional Engineering managers
* Coordinate project headcount planning based on Engineering roadmaps and what if scenarios
* Plan and analyze resources sharing between Defense Systems and other business units (labor cross charge)
* Track and validate Engineering project charging to support internal reporting and contract billing
* Track and assess financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with forecasts
* Produce regular consolidated reports, which include key metric trends, financial results, and variance reporting to engineering leaders
* Lead budgeting and forecasting processes for the engineering departments
* Assemble and summarize data on operational metrics such as cost of services, project accounting, and product quality
* Develop data models, perform analysis, identify trends and risks, and recommend actions on operational metrics
* Consolidate Budgets for non-labor expenditures, such as capital or development/test platforms
* Lead meetings to review and analyze data with functional Engineering teams and managers
* Drive improvements to new and established processes and reporting to increase efficiencies across teams
* Maintain and implement dept and project attributes to enable dynamic planning and reporting


Qualifications

Minimum:
* Bachelor's degree in business, economics, computer science or similar experience

* 5 years of relevant experience in corporate business or financial planning & analysis, or other related fields
* Proficient in spreadsheets, data models and large datasets
* Hands on experience with statistical analysis
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:
* Master's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field
* 3+ years of experience supporting Engineering Operations, Engineering Finance, Project or Program Management, or related field
* 3+ years of experience in data management and analysis
* Experience with Power BI.
* Experience with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming with Excel.
* Experience presenting and preparing PowerPoint presentations.
* Working knowledge of a common shared resource pool in MS Project supporting multiple projects simultaneously.
* Experience with data mining, reporting and maintenance of engineering KPI's.
* Proven track record with continuous improvement achievements in engineering organizations.

Salary Range: $81,764.85 - $ 135,168 annually (San Diego).

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base bay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
