Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Cyber Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead critical cybersecurity initiatives in support of DoD space experimentation projects. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with securing classified and unclassified IT systems, particularly in alignment with DoD security frameworks, including RMF compliance and ATO (Authorization to Operate) processes. This role will require expertise in cybersecurity risk management, incident response, and cloud security architectures, as well as strong leadership abilities to mentor and guide teams in advancing organizational security capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Cybersecurity Leadership & Strategy Development: Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise-wide cybersecurity solutions and strategies, ensuring they align with DoD standards and federal regulations.





  • RMF Compliance & ATO Processes: Oversee RMF compliance efforts and manage ATO processes for both classified and unclassified systems, ensuring security posture meets federal, DoD, and national security requirements.





  • Incident Response & Risk Mitigation: Direct and manage incident response operations, including root cause analysis, resolution planning, and establishing proactive security measures to prevent future breaches.





  • Security Architecture Integration: Support the integration of cloud security architectures, vulnerability assessments, and mitigation strategies to enhance system security and resilience.





  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain and improve the security of IT environments. Contribute to the development of policies and procedures for robust cybersecurity operations and ensure alignment across all security initiatives.





  • Mentorship & Staff Development: Serve as a senior advisor on IT security matters, mentoring junior cybersecurity specialists and leading team members in improving organizational security posture and risk management.





  • Classified IT Infrastructure Management: Oversee the management of both classified and unclassified IT infrastructure, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity regulations and overseeing network operations.





  • Program Management & Documentation: Manage program documentation, including ATO records, and coordinate activities to ensure successful IT security initiatives. Implement cross-domain solutions and support other program management efforts related to cybersecurity operations.




Required Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related STEM fields.





  • 7+ years of IT/security experience, with a strong background in government IT systems management and classified system administration.





  • Security+ and/or CISSP certification.





  • TS/SCI Clearance required.




Desired Qualifications:




  • Expertise in RMF compliance measures, ATO processes, and advanced cybersecurity protocols for both classified and unclassified systems.





  • Extensive experience in integrating enterprise-wide security solutions, including cloud security architectures and vulnerability assessments.





  • Proven proficiency in leading incident response operations, developing IT security frameworks, and aligning them with DoD, SCI/SAP/JWICS standards.





  • Experience mentoring junior specialists and leading cybersecurity risk management initiatives.





  • Experience managing classified IT infrastructure and a background in cybersecurity compliance and ATO processes.





  • Knowledge of cross-domain solutions and program management experience.

  • Deep understanding of federal and DoD cybersecurity standards and best practices.





  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments.





  • Expertise in network security operations and incident response strategies.





  • Ability to develop and implement effective security policies, frameworks, and procedures.





  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.





  • Ability to manage multiple cybersecurity projects and ensure successful implementation within time and budget constraints.
