The Watts Sustainability Project Engineer will work closely with a team to deliver sustainability programs at Watts. The Sustainability Project Engineer will partner with the site and facility leaders; the broader Watts population; and the Executive team to deploy and execute those strategies across Watts. The Sustainability Project Engineer will be a hands-on role to directly engage sites. Performs all other duties as required.

We are looking for a person who is motivated by working independently while travelling among our manufacturing Sites to execute Sustainability Projects.

As Sustainability Project Engineer you will work together with our Sustainability Leadership Team to help our business leaders identify opportunities to reduce water, greenhouse gas emission and waste.

The Sustainability Project Engineer will be a member of a corporate sustainability team supporting global initiatives; You will report to our Manager of Global Sustainability Programs.

The nature of the work is broad and ranges from collecting and analyzing data; to project management; to communicating results; to engaging with our population and deploying Watts strategies.

Our Sustainability Engineer position is an independent role that requires a highly motivated and independent individual. The role can be positioned out of any of our factories in the US. While not travelling you will work at one of these factories.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Define, Execute, and Program manage Sustainability Projects; help define and execute site's sustainability goals in the areas of energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management
    • Renewables Deployment - Work with sites to deploy renewables in order to meet our 10 year Carbon Target
    • Energy Efficiency Equipment - work with sites to deploy equipment to maximize energy efficiency - including building controls and lighting
    • Energy Best Practices - establish recurring cadences in the sites for energy hunts, air leak detection and repair, facility optimization (operation, insulation, equipment efficiency)
    • Establish a formal waste program at Watts based on current pilot projects; deliver current waste projects in flight
    • Support the deployment of water projects - monitoring, detection, optimization. Engaging our supply base on water stewardship activities
  • Communicate broadly and regularly about sustainability program success to instill a general level of expectation and engagement by all Watts employees
  • Other Sustainability Activity
    • Support the production of the yearly sustainability report (link or refer to Watts.com)
    • Monitor industry best practices in sustainability analyses
    • Support businesses need to respond to customer and other stakeholder audits as necessary
    • Collect and analyze key sustainability data across sites.
    • Share best practices, communicate lessons learned and help other sites adopt

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Sustainability, Environmental, Energy Engineering or related field required

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of work experience in Sustainability required
  • Experience with Facilities, Logistics, & Supply Chain Sustainability required
  • Experience with the capital projects process - definition thru to implementation with a focus on renewables and energy
  • Demonstrated Program Management and contract management skills
  • Strong planning, coordination and time management skills
  • Prior experience with business travelling
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent English (verbal and written) communication and presentation skills as this role is required to "message" Sustainability throughout the organization: Verbally - town halls and smaller venues, written - connect and presentation materials, supporting web and internet content
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to effectively participate in and facilitate team meetings
  • Proactive, result-oriented and hands-on attitude
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products
  • Find your way through Ambiguity

Other requirements

  • The ability to travel without restrictions is required in this position.

Work environment

  • Work in both within office & manufacturing environment
  • Up to 50% of your worktime will be travelling and working in other locations
  • If you are not travelling, you will work out of the factory where you are based.
