Overview

For more than 60 years, SRI has innovated, developed, and delivered next-generation imaging capabilities and systems for commercial, defense, space, and scientific applications. Today, the Center for Advanced Imaging is pioneering next-generation technologies that are changing the way we see and understand our world across the electro-optical spectrum. From design to fabrication, we develop and deploy complex imagers for space, scientific imaging, commercial applications, spectroscopy and more.

The Center for Advanced Imaging has developed a digital night vision image sensor and camera. To further improve night vision image quality SRI is using artificial intelligence to filter noise. The Co-op student would gain experience working with monochrome and color night vision cameras and software.

The student will work at the SRI office near RIT at 500 Canal View Blvd Rochester, NY.



Responsibilities

Collect images and video of nighttime scenes using SRI night vision cameras. The images will be used to train artificial intelligence denoising models. It will require someone who is comfortable doing some work as a pair with another Co-op student outdoors at nighttime. The same images will also be collected during the daytime. Images will also be collected indoors inside a dark lab. The Co-op students will also work remotely with SRI image scientists in Princeton, NJ to train the denoising algorithms.



Qualifications

    Current undergrad RIT student majoring in Image Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Due to government contract requirements candidates must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

The salary range is: $20-$30/hr. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
