Responsibilities

The Individual Therapist is responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, facilitating therapy sessions, and providing clinical support within their assigned program.

Essential Duties:
  1. Therapy Facilitation:

    • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions for young adults and adolescents based on Newport Healthcare's clinical model.
  2. Assessment and Planning:

    • Perform risk assessments and create initial safety plans upon client admission.
    • Complete a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment and develop a treatment plan within specified timelines.
  3. Collaboration:

    • Work with the client's treatment team to coordinate treatment goals and services, including regular reviews and updates of the treatment plan every 30 days.
    • Provide progress updates to parents in collaboration with the family therapist.
  4. Crisis Management:

    • Conduct risk or crisis assessments and implement crisis intervention strategies as necessary.
  5. Documentation:

    • Maintain timely and accurate documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, group notes, and discharge summaries, adhering to established standards.
  6. Team Participation:

    • Attend weekly treatment team meetings, staff meetings, and clinical supervision sessions.
  7. Representation and Training:

    • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and conferences, representing Newport Healthcare as required.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field or enrollment in Doctorate program from an accredited or state approved graduate school required.
  • Board registered (APCC, LAPC, ASW, AMFT, MHCA) or Psychologic Associate in the state in which services are provided required.
  • Experience working with individual, family, and/or group therapy with young adults/adolescents
  • Experience with mental health, substance abuse, eating disorders or trauma-informed treatment preferred.
