Overview

The Sales Manager primarily is responsible for interviewing, selecting, mentoring and training of sales associates, assigning sales territories and directing the work of sales associates, setting sales quotas, strategies and other performance metrics, planning and controlling the sales budget, maintaining sales records for use in supervision or control, assessing sales associates' productivity and efficiency, handling associate complaints and grievances, resolving customer complaints, growing revenue and customer acquisition. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to explain tasks clearly and understand the needs of the market. The Sales Manager also will be engaged in general sales activity.


Responsibilities

Provides leadership, supervision and mentoring to the sales team.

Motivates and encourages sales team to ensure quotas are met.

Reviews and analyzes sales and operational records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and identify potential new markets.

Identifies and analyzes customer preferences to properly direct sales efforts.

Assigns territories and sets quotas for sales teams.

Consults with potential customers to understand their needs; identifies and suggests equipment, products, or services that will meet those needs.

Resolves customer complaints, staffing problems, and other issues that may interfere with efficient sales operations.

Collaborates with executive leadership to develop sales quotas and strategies.

Prepares sales budget; monitors and approves expenses.

Acts as company representative at trade association meetings.


Qualifications

Designing sales plan for areas including setting sales quotas

Directing store managers on sales issues

Developing relationships with new and existing customers

Reviewing the bid process

Interview, hire and train new sales associates

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills

Strong supervisory and leadership skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
