Description Oak Grove Technologies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Intern to assist the Director of IT with day-to-day operations and special projects. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in system administration, network security, cloud infrastructure, and IT support in a fast-paced federal contracting environment. Requirements As an IT Intern, you will assist with the following: System Administration and IT Support
- Help manage computer network infrastructures, PCs, printers, and peripherals.
- Support end-user IT needs through the help desk portal, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
Cybersecurity
- Assist in implementing and maintaining security measures to protect the company's networks and systems.
- Monitor network activity to detect and respond to potential security incidents.
- Learn and assist with maintaining compliance with DFARS/NIST 800-171 and CMMC 2.0 standards.
Cloud and IT Infrastructure
- Support the migration and maintenance of the company's IT systems to the cloud.
- Assist with system updates, backups, and infrastructure scalability efforts.
Asset and Budget Management
- Help track IT department spending and assets.
- Assist in the procurement of IT equipment, software, and services.
Project Management
- Collaborate with the IT Director on projects such as server management, software updates, and network maintenance.
- Assist in coordinating IT-related purchases and requisitions.
Other Responsibilities
- Work on assigned tasks related to classified contracts, including secure network setup in coordination with the Facility Security Officer (FSO).
- Provide backup support for Datawatch Systems key card access management at the HQ office.
- Occasionally travel to other company locations for IT support as needed.
Qualifications
- Transitioning service members with IT, cyber, or comms experience preferred. (SkillBridge, The Honor Foundation, etc.)
- Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of computer networks, systems administration, and cybersecurity principles.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends for special projects or network maintenance, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications for Transitioning Service Members:
- Transitioning service members with IT, cyber, or comms experience preferred. (SkillBridge, The Honor Foundation, etc.)
- Military IT, Cybersecurity, or Communications Experience: Background in signal, cyber, IT support, networking, or systems administration (e.g., 25B, 17C, 3D, 0689, or similar MOS/AFSC/NEC).
- Experience with Secure Networks & Systems: Familiarity with DoD security protocols, classified/unclassified networks (NIPR/SIPR), and cybersecurity best practices.
- Technical Troubleshooting Skills: Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting IT hardware, software, and network systems in a mission-critical environment.
- Cloud & Infrastructure Knowledge: Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (training or certification is a plus).
- Security & Compliance Awareness: Understanding of DoD cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST 800-171, CMMC) and best practices for securing IT environments.
- Leadership & Teamwork: Proven ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments while collaborating with teams to solve technical challenges.
- Eligibility for DoD Clearance (Preferred): Ability to obtain a security clearance based on military background and experience.
