THE POSITION

The undergraduate intern will assist the Carbon County Children and Youth Services Agency in serving the children and families of Carbon County in the area of child welfare. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will engage in all training and learning objectives described in the Internship agreement between Carbon County and the University of study. You will have the opportunity to assist investigating caseworkers with light duties such as note taking, accompanying staff to visit with children and families, and attending family meetings or appointments. Work includes supervising visitations with children and families and monitoring ongoing progress.

Other duties to include but not limited to:

Contacting collateral sources of information to gather information for investigations

Assisting staff to prepare for and attend court hearings

Collecting and entering data in the Child Profile Accounting System

Arranging and participating in Multidisciplinary team meetings

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, approximately 3 days per week.
  • Work hours: Candidates availability will determine their work schedule between the hours of 8 am to 430 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Enrollment as a full-time student in a bachelor's degree program in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related behavioral science, and completion of 75 credits, including completion of 15 credits in one of the listed majors.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
