The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary The Department of Anesthesiology at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons is seeking a seasoned physician as Associate Clinical Anesthesiologist, Medical Director. This position will involve working at a new, large multi-specialty medical practice in Westchester White Plains, adjacent to New York City. The Associate Clinical Anesthesiologist, Medical Director will oversee clinical operations, quality improvement initiatives, and strategic planning for the anesthesia program at 1111 ASC, ensuring alignment with Columbia & NYP missions of advancing patient care, education, and research. This position combines clinical responsibilities with administrative leadership in a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center. In this role, you will participate in providing the highest level of care for patients for the Department of Anesthesiology. Responsibilities Leadership and Oversight
- Lead anesthesia services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Serve as a key liaison between the Department of Anesthesiology, the ASC leadership, and clinical teams.
- Champion Columbia/NYP values collaboration, excellence, and innovation within the ASC environment.
Clinical Excellence
- Provide anesthesia care for patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic, and interventional procedures.
- Deliver high-quality patient care, including preoperative evaluation, intraoperative management and postoperative recovery.
Administrative Leadership
- Develop and implement policies, protocols, and guidelines to maintain compliance with institutional, state, and federal standards.
- Manage scheduling and staffing of the anesthesiology team, ensuring efficient resource allocation and excellent patient care.
- Work collaboratively with CRNA leadership to ensure adequate staffing.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators, including patient outcomes, safety metrics, and operational efficiency.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with Columbia/NYP surgeons, nurses, and administrative teams to optimize workflows and enhance the patient experience.
- Participate in departmental and institutional committees focused on quality improvement, education, and operational excellence.
- Foster strong communication with patients and families, addressing questions and concerns about anesthesia care.
Quality and Compliance
- Lead quality improvement projects to enhance patient safety, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes at 1111 ASC.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Maintain a focus on sustainability and efficiency in alignment with Columbia/NYP goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor in Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Board certified in Anesthesiology or eligible
- Active, unrestricted New York State Medical License
- Fellowship training in the respective subspecialty
- 5 years of clinical Anesthesia experience, including leadership roles
- Strong understanding of ASC operations and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in outpatient/ambulatory surgical settings.
- Proficiency in regional anesthesia techniques
- Academic affiliation or experience in an academic medical center.
