What You'll Do Dakota County Library is seeking a temporary Community Engagement Assistant who is bilingual in Spanish and English. This individual will engage with community members at events throughout Dakota County, focusing on growing awareness and building connections to library services. This individual will work with others to reach Latino community members and work with community-based organizations. This position drives the "Library On the Go" 17-foot van, fully stocked with activities and outreach materials. The Bilingual Community Engagement Assistant reports to the Community Engagement Coordinator and works collaboratively with staff throughout the library. This is a temporary position from May - August 2025.

Minimum Qualifications
-
- Bilingual in both English and Spanish (fluent in Spanish)
AND - Two years of work, volunteer, or school experience in community outreach, engagement or organizing experiences focused on developing community relationships.
OR - One year of college coursework in Communications, Marketing, Event Planning, Library Science, Business, or a closely related field AND One year of work, volunteer, or school experience in community outreach, engagement, or organizing experiences focused on developing community relationships.
AND - A Valid Driver's License

Duties & Responsibilities

Participate and lead outreach at events throughout Dakota County
- Lead interactive activities.
- Drive the Library On the Go Van.
- Bring library materials, services, and resources to the community.
- Assist at library events.
Build trusting relationships with community members and organizations
- Connect with community members and community-based organizations focused on developing and maintaining relationships with diverse and underrepresented individuals and communities.
- Gather and share community feedback.
Build awareness and connections to the library
- Help identify and implement tactics to raise awareness and connections to the library.
- Promote the library's events, services and resources with the community members.
Administrative tasks to support community outreach
- Track data.
- Organize outreach materials and resources.

Work Environment
Work is performed inside and outside of County office buildings, library locations, and community sites. Travel is required while driving a county-owned vehicle. Lifting requirement of up to 25 pounds, pulling and/or pushing of wagons or moving dollies.
Location and Schedule
This position works in community locations indoors and outdoors throughout Dakota County and at Library Administrative Office in Eagan, MN. The work week includes day, evening, and weekend hours.
