The pay listed above is encompassing of a total range, final compensation offered will be dependent upon several factors to include but not limited to years of experience and education within the position and industry.

Scope of Work:

The Water/Wastewater Operations-Maintenance Supervisor (STP Supervisor) is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance and repair water of the water treatment and wastewater and industrial waste collection systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, directs, schedules and provides technical guidance to subordinates to accomplish tasking.
  • Supervises full-time employees, or their equivalent. Makes recommendations that are given particular weight regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion, disciplinary action and termination of employees.
  • Makes material and labor estimates.
  • Establishes, assigns and adjusts work methods and procedures to meet schedules using knowledge of capacities and capabilities of personnel and equipment.
  • Initiates measures to improve methods, equipment performance and quality of work.
  • Interprets policies to assigned personnel and enforces safety regulations and adherence to proper codes and standards.
  • Maintains records and files, including the approval of timecards and absences, and submits as required.
  • Document and track daily operations by using computer maintenance programs including MS Office applications.
  • Train and instructs employees in new methods or procedures.
  • Maintains responsibility for the correct stock levels of repair or replacement parts.
  • Inspects work in process to insure its completion within allotted time limits and for acceptable quality standards.
  • Coordinates with suppliers, contractors, Engineers and others concerning equipment operations or maintenance.
  • Maintains compliant documentation/tracking/reporting for all water, wastewater and utility operations.
  • Resolves operational problems.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Consistently produces quality products and service.
  • Completes all training within required timeline.
  • Performs all work in a safe and secure manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of five years experience that includes project/program management in a water and wastewater utility; operations experience in water treatment processes and wastewater collection systems and progressively responsible experience supervising a team of operations and maintenance professionals in a municipal water and wastewater utility; or any equivalent combination.
  • Advanced License as a Water Operator and Collection System Operator or any other applicable licenses and/or certifications required.
  • Must be capable of providing supervisory, technical assistance to subordinates and possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a high-volume office area and interface in a positive manner with co-workers and the customer.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Performs all assigned duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Displays courtesy and skill in dealing with internal and external customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Accurately maintains and updates records to enable quick and efficient retrieval of information.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must possess the ability to interact well with others in a team setting ability or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Outside work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow and on uneven terrain - side hills and slopes.
  • Duties will require frequent periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, crouching, bending, crawling, reaching, and balancing. Physically fit to frequently bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer's mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
