Job Purpose
The Project Management Unit Head is responsible for leading the daily operational functions of the Project Management Unit with vision & strategy in support of Power Sport Business Objectives for the ATV & SxS Product Lines. The Project Management Unit includes four functions: New Model Project Leadership of Design and Test (DPL, TPL), Project Coordination, Regulation, and New Model Cost. Responsibilities of this role include daily organizational and resource management, project policy/business process management, and process improvement management. The Unit Head is also responsible for guiding and developing the Project Management Unit members as they execute New Model projects from concept to production.
Key Accountabilities
- Unit Head - Lead a multi-functional team consisting of Project Management (ALPL's & Project Coordinators), NM Cost Leaders' and Regulatory Engineers. Provide leadership to the function group for balancing priorities, overcoming obstacles, aligning expectations with stakeholders, and managing work hours, while minimizing risks for not achieving targets.
- Manages the daily activities of team members and makes assignments for the work within the function group. Coordinates/implements initiatives, prioritizes assignments, monitors/evaluates work progress, and provides mentoring/back-up as needed.
- Creates inter Unit processes and collaborates across the Division to improve NM project workflow. Breaks down division strategies to create sub strategies and tactics to complete that year's objectives and prepare for the future within responsible areas. Ensure the function group is communicating and collaborating internally on a regular basis to align output and drive collaboration between other units.
- Conducts associate performance reviews to provide feedback on results and instruction on personal development. Address performance/associate relations issues, review and approve time sheets and time off requests.
- Actively participates in the hiring process with the Dept Head to identify/select candidates for maintaining target headcount.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent in related field.
Minimum Experience
- 12 to 14 Years related work experience preferably in Power Sports or Automotive field or 16 years of relevant work experience

- Balance work priorities - resolve conflicts and support associates' multi-tasking

Working Conditions
- Travel: Up to 25% may be required. Amount varies based on demands/responsibilities, conferences, etc.; includes possible overseas travel.
- Physical: Primarily at a desk, some work in a lab and/or test vehicle, frequent keyboarding.
- Hazards: Risks found in a typical office & shop setting. Exposure to explosives/flammables, pressurized equipment, toxic chemicals and moving parts.
- Overtime: Overtime expected based on project demands/responsibilities.
- Maintains professional conduct and follows all departmental, safety DEPARTMENT, and COMPANY policies, Procedures, AND rules.
