Location: Beaumont, TX - 1068 Hwy 90 West As our Maintenance Engineer, you'll play a key role in the areas of Plant Engineering, Capital Projects, Maintenance and Utilities. Partnering with the Plant Manager-Beaumont Operations, you'll tackle the individual engineering related items specified below and be responsible for all aspects of maintenance (buildings, production units, and grounds) and utilities. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible and accountable for the maintenance performance and support. This role will investigate, develop and design solutions for chronic and acute production equipment concerns or failures. This will include working with plant leadership and technicians during trouble shooting steps as well as the repair process. In addition, this position will interact and participate with production and reliability for longer term reliability initiatives and projects. This position will be engaged to provide leadership and guidance during planned maintenance outages with a focus on safety, efficient execution, productivity, and right first-time execution. You will make recommendations to the Plant Manager for any necessary and corrective measures, which will result in greater efficiency and economy. You will cooperate with other department Managers toward the attainment of the overall company's objectives and manage your subordinates in the most efficient manner. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide the technical competencies to understand the root cause for equipment failures, generate a complete repair plan that considers all good and sound engineering standards and support the technicians with the execution of the equipment repairs within the different units. Will assist and lead with trouble shooting of acute or chronic equipment issues within all of the operating units. Provide follow-up as required to condition based monitoring or inspection findings on equipment. Using good engineering standards and judgment design and recommend the appropriate solutions for equipment repairs. Ensure effective systems are in place to effectively repair or overhaul key equipment including the required drawings, specifications & checks needed to complete the work safely and right the first time. Participate in small outages or turnarounds as needed. Investigate and determine potential equipment improvement ideas through data analysis, feedback from production and maintenance. Provide technical training and assistance to our maintenance and production technicians as needed. Follow outside repairs at designated shops to ensure adequate and appropriate repairs are made in accordance with our standards at the best value. Recommends equipment reliability improvements & cost reductions opportunities. Provides technical input on capital projects and/or equipment specifications. Coordinates outside services as required by job plans for onsite performed specialized work. Support ongoing and newMaintenance initiatives. Participate in Weekly Planning meetings to review the Reliability PMs look-ahead. Audit findings on previous week's PMs, review and update/correct PM task list, description, frequency, man-hours, etc. as needed. Lead initiatives for Maintenance Productivity improvements. Support Site needs based on particular requirements as they arise. Lead RCM meetings with a regular basis. Active participation in, and development of, identified Continuous Improvement (CI) projects.
ISO QUALITY RESPONSIBILITY & AUTHORITY Implement and follow Veolia's ISO Quality programs, policies and procedures outlined by the Standard and manage the department to meet the requirements of ISO Quality programs, policies and procedures, and ensure continued compliance through regular internal audits and team meetings. The Maintenance Engineer has the authority to discharge the duties listed above. RESPONSIBLE CARE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
Practice Responsible Care Management through active participation and adherence to the Guiding Principles of the Responsible Care Management System and contribute to the sustainability of the OSHA VPP Program by continuing to uphold the principles demonstrated as a STAR site Understand your role in Responsible Care and be able to identify the significant environmental, health, safety, and security (EHSS) risks in your area of responsibility, the controls for each significant aspect and how manage them as needed.
HURRICANE COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES All management personnel, including the Maintenance Engineer, will be required to participate in the Shutdown Team (SDT), Damage Assessment Team (DAT) and/or Pre-Startup Team (PST) as prescribed by the Beaumont Hurricane Plan, or at the request of the Plant Engineer.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering. Other technical degrees considered with relevant hands-on experience in a maintenance organization. Minimum 5 years of experience in the Petrochemical or refinery/manufacturing industry including hands-on maintenance and turnaround experience. Plant maintenance and turnaround execution in a Petrochemical plant environment. Root Cause Analysis experiences a plus. SAP knowledge or equivalent ERP plant maintenance is a plus. Training in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing processes a plus.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough knowledge and understanding of environmental safety and health policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interact with plant leadership and technicians Demonstrated customer service and problem-solving skills and ability to translate to the organization at all levels Ability to work independently & use sound judgment to make good decisions Ability to apply good engineering standards and applications through problem solving and developed repairs plans Excellent oral and written communication skills.
