Overview

CAES by Honeywell is seeking a Document Control Assistant to support the San Diego site.

The role will support and maintain the configuration and data management processes and systems under the supervision of the Drafting Manager, perform various Document Control activities related to Engineering, Program and Project technical data and configuration management, review, provide advice, and support the configuration and data management processes to ensure all regulatory, quality, and internal company requirements are adhered to for documentation in a defense electronics design and manufacturing company, and Maintain and control data integrity within an Agile PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system.


Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:

Under supervision, provides data management (DM) support for multiple programs and projects including, but not limited to, the duties listed below:

  • Notifications to the stake holders, coordination of the delivery of activities between internal and external data management systems, monitoring the deliverable process, and updates Process non-deliverable data requests
  • Supports data management workflow approval processes
  • Support program meetings and provide inputs and requirements for metadata information
  • Maintain the program data environment, perform records management tasks in compliance with organizational records retention policies
  • Provides data management support to program management and engineering management activities and events
  • Coordinate departmental and functional meetings for training on configuration management and user training within the Agile PLM systems
  • Communication: Receive messages by telephone, in person, electronically and in writing; ask questions and rephrase statements to clarify meaning; Read technical publications; communicate across organizational levels; Communicate with quality, integrity and respect in a way that inspires others and encourages innovation and possibilities;
  • Computer: Work in a networked environment using a Windows and/or Windows like interface using Power Point, Excel and Word software programs
  • Time Management and organization: Remain flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and assignments; maintain confidentiality; work with the vast array of information gathered during elicitation and analysis, and to cope with rapidly changing information;

Qualifications

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (The following qualifications can be acquired and demonstrated through experience, education and/or vocational training as noted or as appropriate.)

  • One year of experience in configuration and data management
  • An Associate Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The ability to read and interpret government/industry standards and specifications
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering documents, drawings and BOMs (Bill of Materials) for the purposes of configuration and data management
  • An understanding of engineering change order effectivity and implementation methods
  • An understanding of the various classifications of engineering changes.
  • A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software and databases
  • Familiarity with an SAP or equivalent ERP system
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export law. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A strong understanding of the fundamentals of configuration and data management
  • Associate's degree in Drafting preferred;
  • Bachelor's degree is a plus
  • Knowledge of the following standards
    • EIA-649B Configuration Management
    • ANSI/GEIA-859: Data Management
    • ASME Y14.100 and MIL-STD-100 along with various ASME specifications referenced within these standards.
    • ISO 10007 Guidelines for Configuration Management
    • AS91000 requirements associated with configuration and data management
    • CMMI processes and methods
  • Experience with an Agile PLM is a plus
  • Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to speak effectively before groups of employees and customers.

Pay Range: $21.38- $30.13 per hour (San Diego).

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base bay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
