Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Commodity Manager for Raw Materials to join our Procurement team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the procurement and management of raw materials used in production. You will assist in sourcing, supplier relationship management, cost analysis, and inventory control to ensure the timely and cost-effective supply of materials while maintaining quality standards. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with a keen interest in commodity management and supply chain optimization.

Job Responsibilities


  • Supplier Management: Develop and execute supply strategy, including new supplier development and selection, for all raw material and Co-producer materials as assigned.
  • Contract Management: Develop, negotiate, and execute supplier contracts in support of sourcing strategy an in alignment with Hexion's commercial strategies.
  • Procurement Support: Support the procurement process for raw materials by ensuring material availability aligns with commercial and production schedules.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor and analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and supply chain disruptions to provide recommendations for cost savings or risk mitigation. Responsible for development of procurement strategy managed through deep dives and procurement plans.
  • Inventory Control: Assist in managing inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock to meet production demands without overstocking.
  • Cost Management: Help identify opportunities using the Wave initiative process, to reduce costs by negotiating prices, optimizing supplier contracts, and working closely with the finance and operations teams.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of material purchases, costs, and supplier performance. Prepare reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) for senior management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality assurance, and logistics teams to ensure raw material requirements are met without compromising quality or delivery schedules.
  • Risk Management: Monitor the stability and reliability of supply sources and proactively address potential risks related to raw material shortages, price volatility, or supply chain disruptions.

Preferred Skills


  • Experience in commodity risk management or price forecasting.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and sourcing strategies in raw materials procurement.
  • Knowledge of global supply chain dynamics and trends.

Minimum Qualifications


  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or commodity management, preferably raw materials.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret market data and trends.
  • Knowledge of current technologies related to process analysis, supply chain optimization, procurement, and resource planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of raw materials and manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or chemistry or related field.
