Position Summary

Versiti is seeking a dedicated Production Specialist at the Milwaukee Blood Center to help manage our essential daily operations and deliveries. In this role, you'll be integral in ensuring the accuracy of blood and pharmaceutical deliveries, maintaining proper inventory, and providing excellent customer service to our hospital partners. This is a vital role in a unique lab environment that supports both operational logistics and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

    Packaging and Handling: Package blood product and pharmaceutical orders accurately, ensuring they're ready for shipment to hospitals.
  • Inventory and Deliveries: Receive daily inventory shipments, manage storage, and dispatch deliveries using Versiti vehicles. Coordinate deliveries with outside couriers as needed.
  • Customer Communication: Regularly communicate with hospitals, ensuring they receive the necessary products. Build relationships with hospital staff and manage their requests with efficiency.
  • Order Management: Ensure daily that adequate inventory is on hand to fulfill hospital orders. Reconcile daily reports to verify accuracy.
  • On-Call and Rotations & Schedule
    • On-call required for Saturday (alternating with staff)
    • Rotating holidays & on-call duties.
    Schedule- Sunday - Thursday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
  • Safe and Efficient Operations: Maintain a safe working environment by following all procedural guidelines and optimizing delivery routes.

What You'll Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a logistics, warehouse, or healthcare setting is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow written and oral instructions, ensuring accuracy in tasks.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with hospitals and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Compensation That Rewards Your Dedication:

  • Starting pay at $18.40/hr, plus evening and weekend shift differentials.

The target salary is based on internal averages. Versiti sets salary ranges aligned to local markets in which the job is performed. Compensation decisions take into account internal salary averages and differentiation based on education, experience, skills, and performance. Specific salary and benefits information is shared at the time of the phone screening based on your location and qualifications.

Shift differentials for evenings/weekends:

  • 6pm-12am: $1.50/hour
  • 12am-6am: $2.00/hour
  • Weekends: Additional $2.00/hour.

Responsibilities

  • Manufactures Red Blood Cells (RBCs), Fresh Frozen Plasma and Recovered Plasma
  • Manufactures Neonatal RBCs. Sterile docks Pedipaks to Platelet Apheresis, Neonatal RBCs
  • Performs leukoreduction of Whole Bloods and RBCs
  • Manufactures Cryoprecipitate, Pooled Cryoprecipitate and Cryo Reduced Plasma
  • Labels products to meet regulatory and inventory requirements
  • Manufactures additional specialty products as needed by customer base
  • Follows procedures pertaining to the proper storage of RBCs, platelet products and frozen products
  • Performs and documents equipment function checks and QC as required
  • Maintains a level of productivity that allows department to achieve production goals
  • Works weekend, holiday rotations and on-call, as needed
  • Other duties, as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards


Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma required
  • equivalent required

Experience

  • Less than 1 year 1-6 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read, interpret, and write documents such as operating forms, operating and maintenance instructions, and other department manuals required
  • Above average attention to detail and problem-solving skills required
  • Ability to apply judgment to written or oral instructions required
  • Aptitude for computers and data entry skills required
  • Ability to manage interruptions in a fast-paced environment required
  • Customer service and communication skills required
  • Able to organize work to provide productive work flow needed in component manufacturing required
  • Flexibility to work independently and with a team required
  • Organized, able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at one time required
  • Be able and available to work a flexible working schedule as required based on volume and timing of blood collections required
  • Ability to work independently with limited written or oral instruction required
  • Understands military time required

  • Software systems (Blood Establishment Computer Systems, Title21) required
