Housing Services is a division of Campus Life Services and is a self-supporting auxiliary unit. Housing Services supports UCSF in its quest to attract and support the most talented and diverse trainees in the health sciences and to be the workplace of choice for top-tier talent. The mission of Housing Services is to provide housing and related services to Faculty, Students, Medical Residents, Clinical Fellows, and Post-Doctoral Researchers. The Housing Services program consists of Mission Bay Apartments, The Tidelands, Aldea San Miguel, The Avenues Houses (including 145 Irving Apartments), and Mount Zion Housing. Housing services include Customer Services, Assignments, Tenant Relations, Financial Services, Off-Campus Referral Services, and Maintenance Custodial and Grounds Services.
This position reports to Facilities Services, but directly supports Housing Services. Both departments are an auxiliary service reporting to the Sr. Associate Vice Chancellor of Campus Life Services, to the Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance.
Under supervision of the Assistant Superintendent Custodial Services for Housing, the incumbent cleans both internal and external spaces within housing. Loads and unloads trash receptacles, drivers totter, collects and transports recyclable materials. The incumbent will fill soap and towel dispensers, report any building equipment and supply needs, ensures the security of assigned spaces, performs specialized cleaning in laboratory and medical spaces, and moves, sets up, and takes down furniture and appliances as required.
Key Responsibilities of this position are described below and may take place on property grounds, within common areas, within service areas (like utility or storage areas), and private apartments/homes/room leased by tenants. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $22.54 - $33.08 (Hourly Rate). Required Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, perform basic arithmetic calculations and two years of custodial experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Ability to speak clearly in English; Ability to follow written and oral instruction in English
- Ability to read and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing in English
- Background check clearance required
- Current valid California Driver's License
- Knowledge of applicable security regulations and the ability to follow established security protocols, able ability to work as a team member
- Knowledge and ability to apply appropriate cleaning methods, including specialized procedures and techniques for hospitality
- Ability to use powered and manual floor-cleaning and polishing equipment; ability to use dollies, hoists, move dumpsters and other moving aids
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations
- Excellent customer service skills
