If you are looking to join a collaborative and innovative team in an essential industry, apply for our Material Handler position today! The schedule for this opening is Sunday - Thursday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Training will occur Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. The hourly pay rate is $22.90.

What You'll Do as a Warehouse Assistant

  • Performs all Receiving and Shipping functions as outlined in established procedures.
  • Receives Customer product through acceptance or unloading shipping container, including pallet breakdown and identifying box weights; processes all applicable documentation in an accurate manner.
  • Coordinates staging of incoming Customer product by transferring or overseeing the transfer of product to the non-process storage locations in a safe and damage-free manner.
  • Inspects incoming or outgoing Customer product for damages and/or count discrepancies and reports such conditions as outlined in established procedures.
  • Maintains and submits warehouse reports depicting where products are staged within the facility.
  • Verifies that all identified damages and/or count discrepancies have been reported and resolved.
  • Ensures shipment of product within shipping deadline by maintaining contact with Customer transportation personnel and with vendor and internal facility staff. Prepares product for shipment by retrieving Customer product from processed area and staging in shipping area; prepares accurate shipping documentation; loads product into shipping trailers/containers or transfers small packages to delivery service.
  • Ensures timely receipt or shipment of Customer product by assisting material handling activities.
  • Actively participates and supports Lean and Safety initiatives and other directives.
  • Maintains facility aged inventory levels through consistent evaluation and collaboration with production, planning, and quality teams.
  • Operate yard truck to move trailers, safely and efficiently manage traffic congestion on company property and product flow into and out of the facility.
  • Contributes in a team effort by performing in accordance to all STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles and other directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher level management and performs other duties as assigned.


The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed

Required:



  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum of 3 years related warehouse shipping & receiving experience in a FDA, ISO, GMP environment.
  • Prior experience operating forklift equipment.
  • Essential to be clean shaven for safety equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate.



Preferred:



  • Ability to be licensed to operate powered industrial equipment in a safe and professional manner (i.e. Forklift or yard truck).
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.
  • Ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision.
  • Requires ability to navigate through defined computer screens and STERIS Operational Data Management System.
  • Above average organizing, analyzing and a minimum of Level 2 math skills (four basic arithmetic functions in all units of measurement, decimals, ratios, rates, percentages). Can draw and interpret bar, line or pie charts. Strong attention to detail and data accuracy (Receiving Reports, Bills of Lading, etc.)
  • Requires effective interpersonal skills as demonstrated through prior experience.
  • Able to adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.
  • Normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, bells, horns, etc.
  • Requires knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Experience with 5S and/or LEAN.

Pay range for this opportunity is$22.90- $22.90

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
