Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Director, Regional Family & Community Health will direct the implementation of community health programs, in conjunction with appropriate staff and leadership. The programs will be focused on health promotion, disease prevention, improve access to healthcare. Provide strategic recommendations for quality improvement activities to identify best practices and recognize program deficiencies and improvement opportunities. Direct, convene, oversee and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events to raise awareness and educate the public on health issues. Direct the development and strategic distribution of targeted educational materials and resources ensuring they are aligned with the community's specific needs and priorities. Collaborate with subject matter experts in the Central Office, formulate optimal strategies for planning, prioritizing, developing, promoting, and implementing community programs, considering need, demand, resource availability, and barriers to implementation. Foster strategic partnerships with local health departments, healthcare providers, schools, and key organizations to align efforts, optimize resource sharing, and stay informed on evolving local, state, and federal health policies and their community impact. Provide leadership and oversight of outreach initiatives to ensure effective engagement with target populations. Cultivate and sustain strategic relationships with community leaders and organizations to advance program initiatives, foster support for policy development, and strengthen advocacy for public health research and evaluation activities from a regional perspective. Supervise and support a team of public health professionals and other program staff in the Capital District and provide training, cross training, and development opportunities to enhance staff skills and knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a related field and six years of experience in the direction and/or management of a relevant program in a public health, health/human services, health regulatory program or community-based services organization; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and eight years of such experience; OR ten years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. The years of experience must have included policy formulation, program planning, design, implementation, evaluation and/or allocation of resources. At least four years of experience must have included supervision of staff and program management.

Preferred Qualifications

At least seven years of progressively responsible work experience related to the management of a multi-faceted public health program with a strong understanding of public health, policy, local, and state government management processes. Demonstrated, strong organizational and management skills including excellent oral and written communications skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and maintain relationships between various stakeholders including government agencies at the local and state level; experience monitoring, supporting, and evaluating local health department and grantee performance, experience advancing local policy, system and environmental change and experience leading initiatives to improve health outcomes for marginalized communities, specifically communities of color. Experience actively soliciting feedback on public health interventions from minority and underserved communities. Experience in one or more of the following programs: Maternal and Child Health, Family Health, Chronic Disease Prevention, Immunizations, Women Infant and Child program, Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance, and Bureau of Special Investigation. Master's degree in public health, nursing, epidemiology, social work, social or public policy, or health sciences.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available.

This position will require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.
