Organizational Unit Overview
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders ( CSDI) prepares individuals for careers in speech-language pathology and audiology. The department's programs have strong administrative support, excellent teaching, research, and clinical facilities, and attract quality students interested in serving. Our mission is to educate students to facilitate improvement in the quality of human communication. The current structure of the department includes the associate department chair and program directors reporting to the department chair. The department includes 21 full-time faculty members, is CAA-accredited, and offers programs leading to BS, MS, AuD, and PhD degrees. The department also offers a minor in Speech and Hearing Sciences.
East Carolina University is in Greenville, North Carolina. Greenville is the cultural, educational, medical, and economic center of Eastern North Carolina. The Greenville/Pitt County area has a population of approximately 175,000 and is one hour from the Research Triangle to the west and the Crystal Coast to the east. East Carolina University (27,000 students) is part of a vibrant health care community including ECU Health, a level 1 trauma center, and 1400+ bed health system serving more than 1.4 million people in 29 eastern North Carolina counties. The ECU College of Allied Health Sciences has strong working relationships with the ECU College of Health and Human Performance, College of Engineering and Technology, Brody School of Medicine, and School of Dental Medicine. ECU is home to both Army and Air Force ROTC programs and is in proximity to Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine, and Navy bases. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is near the College of Nursing, Laupus Health Sciences Library, Brody School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, and ECU Health Medical Center.
Job Duties
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Allied Health Sciences at East Carolina University ( ECU) invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term, 12-month speech-language pathologist with the title of Clinical Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide patient care services and clinical supervision of graduate students in the ECU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic ( ECU- SLHC). In addition, the successful candidate may be asked to perform teaching duties related to areas of expertise and is expected to participate in service to the university and profession. Patient care continues during university breaks and may involve on and off-campus clinical services and training.

Minimum Education/Experience
Applicants must hold an MS degree in Speech and Language Pathology or a related field and their Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology ( CCC- SLP) and North Carolina speech-language pathology licensure (or be eligible for licensure in the state of North Carolina). Applicants must have completed the ASHA requirements for clinical instruction/supervision by the time of hire, with two or more years of clinical practice as a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist.

Clinical Services providers must have demonstrated experience and expertise in Communication Sciences and Disorders in one or more of the areas listed in the preferred section.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
CCC- SLP, NC licensure or licensure eligibility in the state of North Carolina
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Prior experience in clinical supervision of speech-language pathology master's students.
Expertise in pediatric speech and language disorders.
Experience teaching graduate and undergraduate didactic courses in CSDI.
