The Technology Transfer Office at the University of Cincinnati, located within the dynamic 1819 Innovation Hub, plays a critical role in advancing the university's mission to foster innovation and drive economic impact. The office is dedicated to protecting and commercializing intellectual property generated by UC's world-class research community. By facilitating patent protection, licensing agreements, and startup formation (in partnership with UC's Venture Lab and Center for Entrepreneurship), the office is committed to empowering UC's innovators with the resources, networks, and strategies needed to translate research into real-world applications, thereby contributing to human health, environmental progress, and economic growth. Job Overview
Reporting to the Senior Licensing Associate for Physical Sciences, the Licensing Associate will be responsible for assisting the Senior Licensing Associate with all matters related to the university's intellectual property portfolio and for advancing the licensing and commercialization of innovations developed at the university. This will involve interacting with inventors and evaluating new inventions, conducting prior art searches to assess patentability, determining and carrying out appropriate intellectual property protection strategies, preparing non-confidential technical summaries, and supporting license agreement strategy development. The Licensing Associate will develop a strong understanding of how technical innovation, intellectual property, and business considerations intersect in the commercialization process. The Licensing Associate will develop strong working relationships with university faculty, intellectual property counsel, and industry partners. The Licensing Associate will also work collaboratively with other members of the Technology Transfer team, as well as other members of the Office of Innovation. This will be an on-site position. One (1) year of experience in academic technology transfer; scientific or research/development; contract compliance; licensing in an intellectual property setting, or related field. Physical Requirements/Work Environment
