Job Details This position is responsible for the accurate and timely performance of various diagnostic testing in an appropriate manner so that the Cardiorespiratory Department provides high quality of patient care. Should have an ability to operate all diagnostic equipment within the Cardiology department. Recognize variations of the normal and abnormal electrocardiogram tracings.
Job Description
- Accurate performance, timely completion of studies according to cardiology workload and clinical urgency.
- Assembles department requisitions from work list and distributes according to study required.
- Reviews requisitions for correct order and data required to perform study.
- Perform electrocardiogram procedures according to established protocols with proper labeling.
- Review electrocardiograms for clear recording and any deviation from normal. If abnormal, compare to previous tracings, place copy with chart and notify patient's nurse.
- Prepare study for interpretation by proper numbering, labeling and retrieval of previous tracings for comparison.
- Responds to Codes and monitors patient. Assist with CPR as needed.
- Applies Holter monitors as needed according to department policy.
- Performs stress test procedures according to established protocols.
- Completes all computer information for ordering and/or charging purposes
- Records necessary audit data.
- Work in cooperation with others and share all responsibilities of the department.
- Maintain appropriate supplies needed to perform tests.
- Participates in the Hospital Performance Improvement Program.
- Acts in accordance with the Aria Health Standards of Behavior.
- Maintain competency with new technology and regulations.
- Ensures patient/customer satisfaction by respecting confidentiality and privacy; treating others with courtesy, dignity and respect; considering the needs of everyone; and responding to customer concerns in a timely manner.

Qualifications
- High School Graduate or equivalent; Graduate of AMA approved EKG or Medical Assistant School preferred.
- At least six months' experience under the direction of an experienced technician or cardiologist in a hospital or physician's office preferred.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support CPR certification
