Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job.

Under limited supervision, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for training and leading Payroll Administrators on various payroll processes, including providing assistance in inquiries, policies and calculations and as an escalation resource for processing. Processes include ensuring controls are in place for processing, auditing data processed by the Payroll Administrators, identifying errors and root causes. The Payroll Specialist is able to provide full coverage for the Payroll Administrators during absences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

* Leads processing of biweekly payroll by managing workflow to ensure payroll transactions are processed timely and accurately.
* Performs all Payroll Administrator responsibilities in order to provide coverage on all desks during absences.
* Provides customer service to employees: by responding to employee service requests in the area of pay, benefits and taxes as they relate to their pay, how to enter time or time off, where to locate forms and information on the company's intranet, where to send completed forms, who to contact for benefit questions and how to obtain IRS instructions on withholding issues.
* Coordinates daily work activities.
* Audits off cycle checks prior to processing.
* Responds to internal and external questions and escalations.
* Provides training and guidance as needed to Payroll Administrators.
* Documents end-to-end processes.
* Creates process to balance all incoming files, balance to Payroll Summary.
* Assists Accounting team with research to enable balancing and posting to GL.
* Processes special adjustments, including prior quarter entries and coordinate processing.
* Applies for tax IDs for new jurisdictions and maintain tax information using ADP Smart Compliance.
* Creates reports as requested by manager or business partners to support audits.
* Responds to all audits requests, internal and external.
* Researches tax errors.
* Balances quarterly returns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
  • Education: Associates Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a focus in Accounting
  • Experience: Six (6) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
  • License/Certification: Preferred: Certified Payroll Professional required (active or inactive).

Pay Range
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $45.64 to $51.78
