The opportunity
The College COACH summer internship is a paid program running from Monday, June 9-Friday, August 8, 2025. In addition to on-the-job training and work experience, the program includes workshops and additional development programs. College students will work 35 hours/week.
The Neuroscience Inpatient Unit Intern will work at 8 Mandell Neuroscience inpatient unit, a 31-bed unit with highly acute patient population, ranging from the Neurology, Epilepsy, Neuro-surgery, Neuro-Oncology services and Complex Care/other services as well.

What you'll do

  • Function as a Greeter at the desk just outside the unit to help families and visitors navigate to their destination
  • Serve as an Operations Assistant, helping Nursing and Administrative staff locate and stock equipment across the floor
  • Communicate with IT, BioMed or Engineering when things need to be fixed and keep the team informed
  • Help Clinical Assistants turn over rooms after discharges
  • Opportunity to also learn Patient Experience Representatives (PER) tasks at the desk (answering nurse calls/triaging messages, etc.)
  • This role is fully on-site

  • Inpatient operations, medical equipment and hospital operations pertaining to supplies/equipment
  • Experience with administrative functions of an inpatient unit

  • You are outgoing and can work with a large nursing staff
  • You provide timely communications and respond to requests quickly
  • You are comfortable learning new technology

Recruitment process

  • Internship opportunities: We aim to have all summer internship opportunities posted by February 28. They will be posted on a rolling basis as managers determine their availability to host an intern.
  • Resume review & interviews: Applications will be screened, forwarded to managers as appropriate, and interviews will be scheduled.
  • Offer decision: We will follow up within one week of your interview.
  • Onboarding: Those selected for the internship program will complete onboarding by May to ensure a smooth start to the program.
