Position Description:

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery is currently recruiting for a faculty position as an Assistant Professor on either the tenure or clinical (non-tenure) track. The UI Department of Neurosurgery is made up of more than 15 full-time faculty members who provide national and international leadership across a range of neurological surgery specialties including but not limited to, brain tumor neurosurgery, endovascular neurosurgery, functional neurosurgery, pediatric neurosurgery, spinal surgery, and neurotrauma neurosurgery. The Department of Neurosurgery has a long tradition of excellence in research, a well-developed research infrastructure, and ample patient populations that support efforts in a variety of areas of investigation.

Education Requirement:


  • MD/DO degree or equivalent is required


Required Qualifications:


  • Completed training in all phases of Neurosurgery
  • Completed or on track to complete neurosurgery/spine fellowship training in complex spine procedures
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must possess a strong commitment to academic and clinical excellence
  • Must possess a strong interest in clinical education


Certifications:


  • Must possess or be eligible for a medical license in the State of Iowa


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Experience as a neurosurgical journal reviewer
  • Published research in the areas of general neurosurgery
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
