As a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will have the important role of maintaining and supervising a work crew while instructing, coaching, and evaluating maintenance tasks in the trade of refrigeration mechanics. You will provide both classroom and on-the-job training for inmates, while also providing supervision, security, and custody for those assigned to your work detail. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing maintenance support for refrigeration and air conditioning systems, both in construction and repair.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $50,846.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems; or
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.

• You must be in possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider.

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
