The Director of Program Management for our Device Solutions Product Business Unit (PBU) is responsible for providing hands-on leadership and execution of program management. This is a cross-functional and global leadership role requiring management of a portfolio of programs with coordination between many different functions within the company. The successful candidate will interface with executives, global R&D/engineering, supply chain, operations, procurement, legal, and finance teams to drive execution of total product development from concept phase to release to manufacturing and/or sustaining. This PMO office owns all associated project and program management - execution, adherence to published process and governance, associated KPIs, escalation, and resolution - while coaching and developing a team of 6+ program managers. **This is a hybrid role and can be located in Raleigh, NC or Austin, TX. Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Management of a portfolio of Devices projects and program managers globally, overseeing associated R&D budgets.
  • Managing, coaching, and developing program managers, including their assigned projects and core team creations/management.
  • Creation and maintenance of the plan of record for all programs within this PBU.
  • Execution to the company's process and governance, including chairing key stakeholder meetings, driving proper content for program execution reviews, and making key decisions such as phase gate reviews and change management approvals.
  • Establishment of key performance indicators for measuring progress and course corrections, including weekly and monthly reporting.
  • Partnership with other PMOs in other PBUs to continuously improve efficiency cross-functionally, including improvements on program management disciplines such as KPIs, templates, and reviews.
  • Responsible for product development across R&D organizations from feasibility to planning to execution.
  • Development of program dashboards, with an ability to report succinctly to executive teams.
  • Creation and management of regular program/project KPI updates and communication with all stakeholders, with strong emphasis on meeting agreed-upon deliverable objectives, duration, and cost targets.
  • Maintenance of portfolio and program cost against the agreed-upon budget, including tracking resource requirements of each project and working with R&D leadership to review and align.
  • Maintenance of a single prioritized R&D roadmap and plan of record (POR).
  • Drive R&D flows and methodology for consistency and to drive efficiency.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on project, product, or program leadership and management combined with experience in developing, designing, validating, testing, or defining products.
  • Bachelor's degree required. Engineering discipline preferred.
  • Experience in product lifecycle management, from concept to production.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware and software products and development models/processes.
  • Proven record of managing high-performance culture in geographically diverse locations.
  • Minimum of 5 years managing project/program managers.
  • Demonstrated team leadership capabilities with both direct and indirect reports.
  • Must have "product development" expertise and know-how.
  • Demonstrated excellence in program and project management disciplines.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Distinctive problem-solving leader.
  • Experience managing multiple programs, of varying scope, simultaneously.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
