Job Summary:
Carries out manual tasks which contribute to the carrying out of the project for their professional specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines This position requires out of state travel. Candidates with CDL a plus.
Main Responsibilities:
- Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
- Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Support the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives
- Discusses traffic routing plans, type and location of control points with superior
- Distributes traffic control signs and markers along site in designated pattern
- Directs movement of traffic through site, using, signs, hands and flag signals
- Warns construction works when approaching vehicle fails to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers
- Informs drivers of detour routes through construction sites
- Gives hand marker to last driver in line up of one-way traffic for flagger at opposite end of site, signaling clearance for reverse flow of traffic
- May occasionally operate pilot car at construction site
- Some travel to out of town work locations
Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Valid driver'slicense with ability to maintain a clean driving history required
Skills:
- Flagging/traffic control experience preferred, but not required
- CDL preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
- Frequent exposure to loud noise
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
- Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
