Department Summary

The UNT Career Center is the centralized career office responsible for the career development and employment of all UNT students and alumni. It has responsibility for all Student Employment, Internships, and Post-Graduate Employment of UNT students.

Position Overview

The job market is rapidly changing, and students need career guidance, education, and practical experiences to accomplish their goals. Students are in need of better training and coaching to help them make informed and confident decisions and adjust to evolving professional planning, development, and workplace needs.
The Career Center Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Career Readiness Coordinator to join our team.

This position will coordinate the scheduling, training, assessment, and departmental efforts with career readiness curricular and co-curricular offerings. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Planning, organization, communications, and coordination of activities to support curricular and co-curricular career readiness offerings to UNT students.
* Provide administrative and technical support for students and class schedules.
* Facilitate career readiness courses, committees, trainings, and related workshops and presentations to staff and students.
* Career coach and supervise students, student workers, and peer mentors as needed.
* Develop marketing and branding materials to promote career readiness initiatives
* Collection, management and assessment of data.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and two years' of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops. Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations. Experience in networking across departments and programs. Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population. Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills. Understanding of data collection, data, interpretation, and reporting. Skills in marketing, graphic design, and social media. Strong technical skills to administer and communicate career readiness initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
*Experience in coaching, counseling, teaching, social work, human services, public administration, brand management or related field.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties:



  • Providing integrated service delivery, coordination, evaluations, and timely and accurate reporting for participants and through collaboration with Career Center team and campus partners.
  • Coordinate, organize, and support career education of students interested in pursuing a variety of majors, minors, and career choices and identifying appropriate internship and job activities.
  • Analyze students' career paths, initiate career assessments, provide career education and advice on career readiness, resume development, interview preparation, and offer experiential-learning and job search resources.
  • Provide administrative and technical support for students and course schedules, including leading and accuracy with UCAR Career Readiness registration and curriculum delivery.
  • Facilitate and coordinate workshops, trainings, and seminars, and teach career readiness courses, assess their effectiveness and implement changes needed to engage and enhance student preparedness for career readiness and the workplace.
  • Develop ongoing relationships with faculty, staff and administration working with a variety of majors.
  • Develop marketing and branding strategies to advance student engagement and campus awareness of career readiness curricular and co-curricular offerings, including campaigns, video, social media, print, etc.)
  • Track data related to career development, student engagement, and student retention. Analyze and report progress to supervisor and Career Center assessment team. Reports should include evidence of the impact of student engagement with career readiness and measurable impact results.
  • Provide assistance to other units in the Career Center and perform other duties as assigned for optimal operational success of the Career Center.


Work Schedule:

Monday thru Friday; 8 am - 5 pm; some evenings and weekends as needed.
