Vaco is assisting their client in Memphis, TN with their search for a Senior Accountant.
Position Overview: This role will support various aspects of finance and accounting for the company and requires solid accounting experience with strong analytical skills. The candidate will need to fit well in an environment that rewards smart, self-starting, and focused individuals with ever-increasing responsibilities and challenges. The candidate will also need to demonstrate strong problem solving, critical thinking, decision making skills, work ethic, organizational skills, attention to detail, and teamwork capabilities. The Senior Accountant reports to the Chief Accounting Officer and is responsible for certain duties related to monthly / annual general ledger close, balance sheet and income statement analysis and presentation. Specific Job Responsibilities: * Assist in the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring transactions are in accordance with GAAP and internal policies and procedures * Prepare and record journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information * Analyze financial activity and results on a monthly basis; report on variances based on research and discussion with Operations and Sales leadership * Perform monthly account reconciliations * Assist with preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, including footnotes and supplemental information * Work closely with external auditors and tax preparers, providing required information and assistance * Monitor and provide periodic reports summarizing the cash position of the company * Assist in the fixed asset process, policies and procedures * Assist in accounting for acquisitions, including data conversion and integration and coordination with Operations regarding the propriety of assets acquired * Work as a team in the accounting and finance group * Other projects as necessary Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; preference given to candidates with a Master's Degree in Accounting * Certified Public Accountant or candidate * 2-4 years of related accounting experience; public accounting firm or large company experience preferred * Intermediate level knowledge of all accounting functions, GAAP principles and related internal controls, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and inventory, and willingness to research and resolve accounting application * Strong analytical skills and excellent auditing, mathematical, reconciliation and computational skills required with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel * Excellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus * Demonstrates skills and experience in managing goals and expectations, including being detail-oriented and well organized, while consistently meeting deadlines * Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a team and with all levels of employees, management and service providers Vaco values a diverse workplace and strongly encourages women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply.
